State Route 240 (SR 240) is a southeast-northwest state highway located in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels through portions of Macon, Schley, Marion, and Talbot counties. Route description SR 240 begins at an intersection with SR 26 in Fountainville, which is west-southwest of Oglethorpe, in Macon County. The route runs north, and then curves to the west, through rural portions of the county. It enters Schley County, where it intersects US 19/ SR 3 in the community of Murrays Crossroads. It then curves to the northwest, and enters Marion County. SR 240 intersects SR 137 in Tazewell. The route then curves to the northeast to an intersection with the southern terminus of its special route, SR 240 Connector. Tazewell, Georgia
Tazewell is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Marion County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census, with a population of 93. History A post office called Tazewell was established in 1837, and remained in operation until 1985. The community was named after Henry Tazewell, a United States senator from Virginia, state legislator and judge. Tazewell was named the county seat of Marion County in 1838. The Old Marion County Courthouse still stands at Tazewell and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1980. A variant spelling was "Tazwell" (without the E). The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place as the "Town of Tazwell" in 1854. Tazewell today is an unincorporated area. State Route 127 (SR 127) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Marion, Taylor, Macon, and Houston counties in the west-central and central parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects the north-central part of Marion County with the Perry– Warner Robins area. Route description SR 127 begins at an intersection with SR 41, about halfway between Buena Vista and Juniper, in Marion County. It heads east to an intersection with SR 240 (Ronnie Road).
