Georgia Marris
Georgia Marris (born 15 November 1996) is a New Zealand swimmer. In 2018 she is competing in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the 100m butterfly event. Marris was born and grew up on the North Shore, Auckland. She began learning to swim from 6 months old, and from the age of three had lessons with New Zealand swimming representative, Phillipa Gower (née Gould). Marris first competed for New Zealand at the 2012 Trans-Tasman Tri Series, followed by the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in 2013. She has broken a number of New Zealand age group short course records including 13 years 100m freestyle, 16 years 200m freestyle and 17 years 100m freestyle. In 2015 and 2017 she competed at the World University Games. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. It was the fifth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games and the first time a major multi-sport had an equal number of events for male and female athletes. 4,426 athletes including 300 para-athletes from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations took part in the event. The Gambia, which withdrew its membership from the Commonwealth of Nations and Commonwealth Games Federation in 2013, was readmitted on 31 March 2018 and participated in the event. World University Games
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games.
