Georgi Dimitrov High School
Georgi Dimitrov ( mk, Георги Димитров}), officially HSCS (High School of City Skopje) Georgi Dimitrov ( mk, СУГС (Средно Училиште на Град Скопје) Георги Димитров) is a High School located in Skopje, North Macedonia. It is named after the former Bulgarian Prime Minister Georgi Dimitrov. History The school was built in 1964 after the catastrophic earthquake that hit Skopje in 1963, as aid from the Bulgarian Government. High school students were educated in it until 1984, when the reforms in education began. In 1989, the school functioned as a part of DSU "Zdravko Cvetkovski" as a school center, and it houses students from the woodworking profession. Skopje
Skopje ( , , ; mk, Скопје ; sq, Shkup) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. The territory of Skopje has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC; remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the modern city centre. Georgi Dimitrov
Georgi Dimitrov Mihaylov (; bg, Гео̀рги Димитро̀в Миха̀йлов), also known as Georgiy Mihaylovich Dimitrov (russian: Гео́ргий Миха́йлович Дими́тров; 18 June 1882 – 2 July 1949), was a Bulgarian communist politician. He was the first communist leader of Bulgaria from 1946 to 1949. Dimitrov led the Communist International from 1935 to 1943. Early life Dimitrov was born in Kovachevtsi in present-day Pernik Province, the first of eight children, to refugee parents from Ottoman Macedonia (a mother from Bansko and a father from Razlog). His father was a rural craftsman, forced by industrialisation to become a factory worker. 1963 Skopje Earthquake
The 1963 Skopje earthquake ( mk, Скопски земјотрес од 1963 година, Skopski zemjotres od 1963 godina) was a 6.1 moment magnitude earthquake which occurred in Skopje, SR Macedonia (present-day North Macedonia), then part of the SFR Yugoslavia, on July 26, 1963, which killed over 1,070 people, injured between 3,000 and 4,000 and left more than 200,000 people homeless. About 80 percent of the city was destroyed. Branko Crvenkovski ( mk, Бранко Црвенковски, pronounced ; born 12 October 1962) is a Macedonian politician who served as Prime Minister of Macedonia from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2002 to 2004, and as President of Macedonia from 2004 to 2009. He was also leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia. Background and earlier career Crvenkovski was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, then part of Yugoslavia.
