Georges Guillet De Saint-George
Georges Guillet (1624 - 6 April 1705) was a French scholar, writer and actor, also known by his stage name Guillet de Saint-George, which he first took in 1661. He was born in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme), Thiers and was the first person to write a history of the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. He also wrote accounts of travels to the Levant under the pen-name "Sieur de La Guilletière". He died in Paris. Académie Royale De Peinture Et De Sculpture
The Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture (; en, "Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture") was founded in 1648 in Paris, France. It was the premier art institution of France during the latter part of the Ancien Régime until it was abolished in 1793 during the French Revolution. It included most of the important painters and sculptors, maintained almost total control of teaching and exhibitions, and afforded its members preference in royal commissions.
