Georges Berr
Georges Berr (30 July 1867 – 21 July 1942) in Paris, was a French actor and dramatist, a member and sociétaire of the Comédie-Française from 1886 to 1923. Under the pseudonyms Colias and Henry Bott he wrote several plays, particularly in collaboration with Louis Verneuil. He was Jean-Pierre Aumont's uncle. 3rd Arrondissement Of Paris
The 3rd arrondissement of Paris (''IIIe arrondissement'') is one of the 20 arrondissements (districts) of the capital city of France. Béatrix Dussane
Béatrice Dussan, called Béatrix Dussane, (9 March 1888 - 3 March 1969) was a French stage actress. Admitted at the Comédie-Française in 1903, she became the 363th sociétaire in 1922. A street in the 15th arrondissement of Paris is named after her. Biography ''Née'' Dussan, she added an "e" to her last name to mimic the great actress of the time Rejane (pseudonym of Gabrielle Réju). A first prize of classic comedy crowned her efforts 22 July 1903. She was immediately engaged as a boarder by Jules Claretie, the then director of the Comédie-Française. On 23 September, she made her debut in ''The Imaginary Invalid'' (role of Toinette). Named an associate in 1922, she sat on the board from 1935 to 1942. ''Les Précieuses ridicules'' (, ''The Absurd Précieuses'' or ''The Affected Ladies'') is a one-act satire by Molière in prose. It takes aim at the ''précieuses'', the ultra-witty ladies who indulged in lively conversations, word games and, in a word, ''préciosité'' (preciousness). ''Les Précieuses ridicules'' is a biting comedy of manners that brought Molière and his company to the attention of Parisians, after they had toured the provinces for years. The play received its Paris premiere on 18 November 1659 at the Théâtre du Petit-Bourbon. It seems not to have been staged before that in the provinces. Eugène Silvain
Eugène-Charles-Joseph Silvain (17 June 1851 - 21 August 1930) was a French stage actor, pensionnaire of the Comédie française, sociétaire then dean of the compagny from 1878 to 1928. Biography He left the army to devote himself to opera. He made his debut in Algeria, then played Beaumarchais in Paris. He was received at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique, and later admitted at the Comédie-Française where he was very successful. In 1883, he became sociétaire of the Comédie-Française. Silvain only had one film acting role, two years before his death, but his appearance as Pierre Cauchon in Carl Theodor Dreyer's classic ''The Passion of Joan of Arc'' earned him a small spot in film history. He married , a tragedian with a brilliant career at the théâtre de l'Odéon, then at the Comédie-Française. Henri Lavedan
Henri Léon Emile Lavedan (9 April 1859 – 4 September 1940), French dramatist and man of letters, was born at Orléans, the son of , a well-known Catholic and liberal journalist. Lavedan contributed to various Parisian papers a series of witty tales and dialogues of Parisian life, many of which were collected in volume form. In 1891 he produced at the Théâtre Français ''Une Famille'', followed at the Vaudeville in 1894 by ''Le Prince d'Aurec'', a satire on the nobility, afterward renamed ''Les Descendants''. ''The Barber of Seville or the Useless Precaution'' (french: Le Barbier de Séville ou la Précaution inutile) is a French play by Pierre Beaumarchais, with original music by Antoine-Laurent Baudron. It was initially conceived as an opéra comique, and was rejected as such in 1772 by the Comédie-Italienne. The play as it is now known was written in 1773, but, due to legal and political problems of the author, it was not performed until February 23, 1775, at the Comédie-Française in the Tuileries. It is the first play in a trilogy of which the other constituents are ''The Marriage of Figaro'' and ''The Guilty Mother''. Though the play was poorly received at first, Beaumarchais worked some fast editing of the script, turning it into a roaring success after three days. Théâtre Daunou
The théâtre Daunou is a Parisian theater with 450 seats, located at 7 rue Daunou in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. History The theatre was a command from the actress Jane Renouardt to the architect Auguste Bluysen. The building is in an Art déco style, while the inner decoration was the work of Armand Rateau.
