Georges Aber
Georges Poubennec (17 July 1930 – 16 March 2012), better known under the name Georges Aber, was a French singer-songwriter. Poubennec was born in Brest. During the 1960s, he adapted the lyrics of many popular songs from English into French. He died in Plougastel, aged 81. Brest (; ) is a port city in the Finistère department, Brittany. Located in a sheltered bay not far from the western tip of the peninsula, and the western extremity of metropolitan France, Brest is an important harbour and the second French military port after Toulon. The city is located on the western edge of continental France. "Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)" is a 1961 pop song by the American singer Sue Thompson. The song was written by John D. Loudermilk and appears on Thompson's 1962 Hickory Records album ''Meet Sue Thompson''. Background Although Thompson was in her thirties when she recorded "Sad Movies", her singing style and young-sounding voice appealed to many of the Baby Boomers whose influence was starting to become apparent on the US music charts. Loudermilk was inspired to write the song after a girlfriend of his went to see the 1960 film ''Spartacus'': "After the movie went off, they turned the bright lights on, and it was just an ambience killer. Caterina Valente (born 14 January 1931) is a French multilingual singer, guitarist, and dancer of Italian ethnicity. Valente is a polyglot; she speaks six languages, and sings in eleven. While she is best known as a performer in Europe, Valente spent part of her career in the United States, where she performed alongside Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Perry Como, and Ella Fitzgerald, among others. Eurovision Song Contest 1961 Deréal was born in Saint-Cyr-l'École, Seine-et-Oise (now Yvelines), France. Noël St. Clair Deschamps (25 December 190812 May 2005) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. Early life and education Deschamps was born in Brisbane, the son of Jacqueline Hester née Irwin and Joseph Mark Deschamps. His paternal grandparents owned a vineyard. He was educated at Glamorgan Preparatory School in Toorak, Melbourne. He graduated with a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge and spent a couple of years as a school-master in North Wales before returning to Australia. Diplomatic career Deschamps joined the Department of External Affairs in 1937. January 1940 saw Deschamps appointed official secretary to the Australian High Commissioner in Canada. Danyel Gérard
Danyel Gérard (born Gérard Daniel Kherlakian; 7 March 1939) is a French pop singer and composer. Life and work Gérard was born in Paris, France to an Armenian father and an Corsican mother, but grew up mainly in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. In 1953, he returned to Paris and became a choir boy at Notre Dame. Following this he played in the rock and roll band The Dangers.
