George Wylie (politician)
George Wylie (January 6, 1848December 8, 1926) was a Scottish Americans, Scottish American immigrant, livestock farmer, and Republican Party (United States), Republican politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate (46th Wisconsin Legislature, 1903, 47th Wisconsin Legislature, 1905) and Wisconsin State Assembly, State Assembly (43rd Wisconsin Legislature, 1897, 44th Wisconsin Legislature, 1899), representing Columbia County, Wisconsin, Columbia and Sauk County, Wisconsin, Sauk counties. Biography Wylie was born on January 6, 1848, in Campbeltown, Campbeltown, Scotland. Around 1857, he emigrated with his parents to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, before moving to a farm in Leeds, Wisconsin, in 1864. After retiring from farming, Wylie settled in Morrisonville, Wisconsin. He married Ida Carpenter Wylie (1852–1930) in 1884, with whom he had a son. Wylie died on December 8, 1926 in Madison, Wisconsin. Wisconsin's 27th State Senate District
The 27th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises most of western Dane County, northern Green County, eastern Iowa County, eastern Sauk County, and parts of western Columbia County. It includes the cities of Baraboo, Middleton, Portage, and Verona, and the southern half of the city of Fitchburg. The district also contains landmarks such as Blue Mound State Park, Devil's Lake State Park, and Mirror Lake State Park. Morrisonville is an unincorporated community in the village of Windsor, in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States, approximately 18 miles (29 km) north of Madison. The Yahara River flows through the community. The main road running through Morrisonville is County Trunk DM, which connects from State Highway 51 approximately to the village of Dane, Wisconsin. Leeds is a town in Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 813 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Keyeser, Leeds, Leeds Center, and North Leeds are located in the town. The town took its name from the city of Leeds, England.
