George W. Swain
George W. Swain (March 5, 1824 – June 17, 1904) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Born in Sanbornton, New Hampshire, Swain moved to Bristol, Dane County, Wisconsin in 1853. Swain married Hannah Chase (1825–1895) in 1849. They had four children. Career Swain was the founder of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, having platted the town in 1863. He was its treasurer in 1866, and supervisor of Vernon County, Wisconsin in 1870. Wisconsin State Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators. Sanbornton, New Hampshire
Sanbornton is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 3,026 at the 2020 census. It includes the villages of North Sanbornton and Gaza. History Located in the fork of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers, the town was first called "Crotchtown". It was granted by colonial Governor Benning Wentworth in 1748 to his friend John Sanborn of Hampton, along with 59 others from Hampton, Exeter and Stratham. Twelve of the grantees were named Sanborn, therefore the community was named "Sanborntown". Among the other settlers were members of the Leavitt family, related to the Sanborns. But ongoing hostilities during the French and Indian War delayed permanent settlement until 1764. It would be incorporated by Governor John Wentworth in 1770. The town originally included Sanbornton Bridge, or Bridge Village, set off in 1869 as Tilton. Bristol is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States, located just north of the city of Sun Prairie and 15 miles northeast of Madison. The population was 4,447 at the 2020 census. Wisconsin Senate, District 4
The 4th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within northern Milwaukee County. It comprises part of the city of Milwaukee's north side, as well as the village of Shorewood, the southern half of the city of Glendale, and part of northern Wauwatosa.
