George Vincent (MP)
George Vincent or Vyncent (c.1493 – 3 January 1566) was a member of the English landed gentry from Peckleton in Leicestershire, who served one term as a "knight of the shire" (i.e., MP) for Leicestershire in 1558. Background Vincent was born by 1493, the first son of Richard Vincent of Messingham, Lincolnshire by Anne (Grimsby), who was the daughter and heiress not only of her father (William Grimsby of Lincoln) after her brother's death, but also coheir through her mother to the Motons of Peckleton (an important Leicestershire family). Vincent was educated in the Inner Temple being admitted in 1519. Personal life By 1517, he had married Jane Story, daughter of William Story of Sleaford, by whom he had seven sons and two daughters; by 1542, he married one Anne (Radcliffe) Lache, a widow of Daventry in Northants; and he finally married Amy Colles of Preston Capes, by whom he had two more sons and one daughter. George Vincent (painter)
George Vincent (baptised 27 June 17961832) was an English landscape painter who produced watercolours, etchings and oil paintings. He is considered by art historians to be one of the most talented of the Norwich School of painters, a group of artists connected by location and personal and professional relationships, who were mainly inspired by the Norfolk countryside. Vincent's work was founded on the Dutch school of landscape painting as well as the style of John Crome, also of the Norwich School. The school's reputation outside East Anglia in the 1820s was based largely upon the works of Vincent and his friend James Stark. The son of a weaver, Vincent was educated at Norwich Grammar School and afterwards apprenticed to Crome. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institution, and elsewhere. George Edgar Vincent
George Edgar Vincent (March 21, 1864 – February 2, 1941) was an Americans, American sociologist and university president. Biography He was born at Rockford, Illinois, Rockford, Illinois, the son of Bishop John Heyl Vincent, John H. Vincent. He studied at Yale University, Yale, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and served on the thirteenth editorial board of ''The Yale Record''. After graduating in 1885, he engaged in journalism, journalistic and literary work. In 1888 he became associated with the Chautauqua, New York, Chautauqua system as vice principal, and after 1907 was president of the Chautauqua Institution (of the Chautauqua movement). From 1892 to 1894 he was a fellow at the University of Chicago, in the first Department of Sociology in the United States.
