George Tyler (Royal Navy Officer)
Sir George Tyler (28 December 1792 – 4 June 1862) was a British Royal Navy officer from who became a colonial governor and then Conservative Party politician. The son of Admiral Sir Charles Tyler, he joined the navy in 1809, rising to the rank of captain in 1822, rear admiral in 1852, and vice admiral in 1857. Tyler was made a Knight of the Royal Guelphic Order in 1833, and knighted again in November 1838. From 1833 to 1840 he was Lieutenant Governor of the island of St Vincent in the Caribbean, which it became part of the British Windward Islands. He was elected unopposed as one of the two Members of Parliament (MPs) for Glamorganshire at a by-election in 1851 following the resignation of Viscount Adare He was re-elected unopposed in 1852, and did not defend his seat at the 1857 general election. Sir George Tyler, 1st Baronet
Sir George Robert Tyler, 1st Baronet (26 August 1835 – 26 November 1897) was a baronet and Lord Mayor of London. Career Tyler was a founder of the firm of Venables, Tyler and Son, papermakers of 17 Queenhithe. He was a councilman and alderman from 1887 to his death, a Sheriff of London for 1891–2, and Lord Mayor of London for 1893–4. After a state visit to Antwerp they named a street Rue lord mayor Tyler in his honour. He was Master of the Stationers' Company for 1893–4. He was made a baronet, of Queenhithe, in 1894. Death He died at his home at Earls Court and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery. Lefty Tyler
George Albert "Lefty" Tyler (December 14, 1889 – September 29, 1953) was a professional baseball pitcher from 1910 to 1921. From 1910 to 1917, Tyler played with the Boston Doves/Braves. He performed well, having an earned run average (ERA) under 3 in all but two years. In 1918, Tyler was traded to the Chicago Cubs for Larry Doyle, Art Wilson, and $15,000. Tyler did well in Chicago as well, having ERA's under 4. Tyler's career earned run average was 2.95. His brother, Fred Tyler, played in the major leagues in 1914 as a catcher. In 1914, Tyler was a member of the Braves team that went from last place to first place in two months, becoming the first team to win a pennant after being in last place on the Fourth of July.The 1914 Boston Braves at www.thisgreatgame.com

George Alfred Tyler (10 February 187915 April 1942) was a New Zealand rugby union player who represented New Zealand national rugby union team, New Zealandthe ''All Blacks''between 1903 and 1906. He played in New Zealand's first seven Test match (rugby union), Test matches, including all five Tests on the pioneering The Original All Blacks, Original All Blacks 1905–06 tour of the British Isles and France. He played club rugby for City in Auckland, and was selected for his Auckland rugby union team, province between 1899 and 1911. His brother William Tyler (rugby), Bill Tyler also played rugby for City and Auckland before switching codes and representing New Zealand at rugby league.
