George Turner (rugby Player)
George Edward Turner (born 8 October 1992) is a Scottish professional rugby union player who plays as a hooker for United Rugby Championship club Glasgow Warriors and the Scotland national team. Club career Turner was drafted to Currie in the Scottish Premiership for the 2017-18 season. Turner was drafted to Ayr in the Scottish Premiership for the 2018-19 season. Turner made his Edinburgh Rugby debut off the bench in October 2014. On 27 July 2017 it was announced that Turner would be joining Glasgow Warriors on loan for the season 2017-18. Turner played his first match for the Warriors on 25 August 2017 coming on as a substitute against Dragons in a 40-23 away win. The 2017 end-of-year rugby union internationals, also known as the November internationals, or autumn internationals in the Northern Hemisphere, were international rugby union matches in 2017. Gregor Hunter
Gregor Hunter (born 26 September 1991) is a Scotland Club XV international player. In 2012 he was awarded the Macphail Scholarship and spent four months playing club rugby in New Zealand. Hunter joined Edinburgh as an elite development player in the summer of 2011 having come through the Scotland age grades. His time at the club was severely effected by injuries, most seriously ruled out for the whole of the 2013–14 season after injuring his knee playing for his assigned club Hawick RFC in August 2013. International career Leonard impressed in the first half of his debut season before refocusing on the 2012 Under-20 6 Nations championship. Grant Gilchrist (born 9 August 1990) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays at lock for Edinburgh Rugby in the United Rugby Championship. Background Gilchrist was schooled at Lornshill Academy, and played with Alloa RFC before moving on to Stirling County RFC. John Macphail Scholarship
The John Macphail Scholarship is an annual rugby union scholarship award in Scotland. It was first given to talented young players; and was later the scholarship also extended to coaches seeking development. The scholarship is named after the former Scotland international rugby union player John Macphail, who died in 2004. The scholarship is a 5 month immersive rugby union programme abroad. Previously award winners have gone to New Zealand, recent award winners now go to South Africa for the programme. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the scholarship was not awarded in 2020 or 2021.
