George Taft
George William Taft (born 29 July 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back for club Worksop Town. A graduate of Leicester City's youth academy, Taft failed to break into the first team and was loaned out to Kettering Town, Karlstad BK and York City. In 2014, he joined League Two club Burton Albion on a two-year contract. Taft was capped by England at under-18 and under-19 level, and was a member of the squad for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup
The 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup was the 18th FIFA U-20 World Cup. Colombia hosted the tournament between 29 July and 20 August 2011, with matches being played in eight cities. The tournament was won by Brazil who claimed their fifth title. At a FIFA Executive Committee meeting held in Sydney on 26 May 2008, Colombia beat the only other candidate country, Venezuela, for the right to organize the U-20 World Cup. It was suggested by the then-Vice President of Colombia Francisco Santos Calderón that it was needed to withdraw from the race with Brazil to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup so the nation could concentrate on hosting the "best possible games". In an inspection tour of development works in March 2010, Jack Warner, then the vice president of FIFA, said that the completion of this tournament could provide Colombia with a launch pad to become a possible host for the 2026 World Cup. Christopher Alan Smith (born 30 June 1981) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre-back in the Football League for York City. Smith started his career with Leeds United's youth system, but aged 15 joined Reading in their youth system. In 1999, he signed a professional contract, before joining Third Division club York City in 2001. In the 2001–02 season, Smith did not establish himself as a first-team regular, but in 2002–03 became a fans' favourite. However, 2003–04 saw York relegated to the Conference National, and after being released by the club he spent a season with Stafford Rangers in the Conference North. Daniel James Parslow (born 11 September 1985) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a centre-back in the English Football League for York City and Cheltenham Town. Parslow started his career with Cardiff City in their youth system, before signing a professional contract in 2005. He signed for Conference National club York City a year later after being released by Cardiff. He did not establish himself in the team in the 2006–07 season, but played in their play-off semi-final defeat by Morecambe. David McGurk
David Michael McGurk (born 30 September 1982) is an English football manager and former professional player who played as a centre-back. He played in the Football League for Darlington and York City. McGurk started his career with the Darlington's youth system and broke into the first team during the 2001–02 season. He was eventually loaned out to York City in the Conference National in 2004. He had two further loan periods with York before joining the club permanently in 2006, after making 62 appearances for Darlington. He played for the team in the play-offs in his first season and won the club's Clubman of the Year award in his second season. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958.
