George Stewart, 9th Seigneur D'Aubigny
Lord George Stewart (or Stuart), 9th Seigneur d'Aubigny (17 July 1618 – 23 October 1642) was an Anglo-Scottish nobleman of French descent and a third cousin of King Charles I of England. He supported that king during the Civil War as a Royalist commander and was killed aged 24 at the Battle of Edgehill in 1642. Origins He was the 3rd son of Esmé Stewart, 3rd Duke of Lennox (1579–1624), 7th Seigneur d'Aubigny, by his wife Katherine Clifton, 2nd Baroness Clifton (c.1592–1637). His eldest brother was James Stewart, 1st Duke of Richmond, 4th Duke of Lennox (1612–1655) of Cobham Hall in Kent. William Downie Stewart Sr
William Downie Stewart (15 May 1842 – 25 November 1898) was a 19th-century New Zealand politician and a lawyer. Early life Stewart was born in Blair Drummond near Stirling in Scotland. His parents were Alexander Stewart and Mary (née Downie). He commenced to study law in Scotland, but came to Dunedin aged 19 in 1861, arriving on the ''Robert Henderson'' on 8 October. In Dunedin, he continued his studies. Stewart had eleven siblings, and over time nine of them also migrated to Dunedin. He married Rachel Stewart (née Hepburn), the youngest daughter of the early Dunedin settler George Hepburn (politician), George Hepburn. They had five children, four of whom survived into adulthood. All of these continued Stewart's work in public service. After Rachel's death in 1878, Stewart married Mary Thomson; they produced one child, a daughter. George Stewart (born December 29, 1958) is an American football coach who is most recently the assistant head coach and offensive analyst for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He was a coach in the NFL since 1989 after spending a few years coaching in the college ranks. He spent ten years coaching wide receivers for the Minnesota Vikings. In 2017 he became the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the San Diego Chargers. College coaching Stewart began coaching in 1983 as a graduate assistant at Arkansas, working under his former head coach from his playing years at Arkansas, Lou Holtz. Stewart followed Holtz to the University of Minnesota the following year, becoming the team’s offensive line coach. In 1986, Stewart would follow Holtz once again this time to Notre Dame to become the team’s linebackers coach. George Stewart (born 29 August 1947 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional footballer, who played for Dundee and Hibernian. Born in Edinburgh, Stewart started his career with Tynecastle Boys Club, before signing for Dundee in 1964.Jeffrey, pp158-159. Stewart was part of the Dundee side that won the 1973 Scottish League Cup Final. He transferred to Hibernian in 1976, after Dundee were relegated from the Scottish Premier Division. Stewart played in over 100 league matches for Hibs, and played in the twice-replayed 1979 Scottish Cup Final. Stewart had helped Hibs reach that final by scoring one of the goals against Edinburgh derby rivals Hearts in the quarter-final. Stewart left Hibs in 1981 to sign for Cowdenbeath, but at the end of the season he joined Dunfermline as a coach. George Lindsay Stewart (11 December 1882 – 10 November 1962) was a Scottish professional footballer, who played for Hibernian, Manchester City, Partick Thistle and the Scottish national team. Club career An outside right, Stewart began his professional career with Hibernian in 1904, replacing John Stewart (no relation) who had been part of the squad that won the Scottish Football League in 1903.
