George Stabb
George Herbert Stabb (26 September 1912 – 11 December 1994) was an English footballer who played for Torquay United, Notts County, Port Vale, and Bradford Park Avenue in the 1930s. Career Stabb played for Dartmouth United and Paignton Town, before joining Torquay United in September 1931. He scored three goals in 12 Third Division South games in 1931–32. He claimed his first goal in the Football League on 7 September in a 10–2 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage. He went on to score 26 goals in 45 appearances in the 1932–33 season to finish as the club's top-scorer. He scored a hat-trick in an 8–1 win over Southend United at Plainmoor on 10 September, and bagged another hat-trick in a 3–2 victory over Watford on 18 March. He then went on to score 15 goals in 1933–34 as he finished as the "Gulls" top-scorer for a second successive season. He then moved on to Notts County. Paignton
Paignton ( ) is a seaside town on the coast of Tor Bay in Devon, England. Together with Torquay and Brixham it forms the borough of Torbay which was created in 1998. The Torbay area is a holiday destination known as the English Riviera. Paignton's population in the United Kingdom Census of 2011 was 49,021. (Word document) It has origins as a Celtic settlement and was first mentioned in 1086. It grew as a small fishing village and a new harbour was built in 1847. A railway line was opened to passengers in 1859 creating links to Torquay and London. As its population increased, it merged with the villages of Goodrington and Preston. Paignton is around north east of Plymouth and south of Exeter, and has the fourth largest population in Devon.
