George Scott (footballer, Born 1865)
George (Geordie) Scott (1865 – 1937) was a Scottish people, Scottish association football, footballer. He is best known for his time at Heart of Midlothian F.C., Hearts, from 1889 until 1897, helping them to victory in the 1890–91 Scottish Cup and 1894–95 Scottish Division One, 1894/95 league title. He was also a long-standing member and president of Bishopbriggs Bowling Club. Life and playing career Born in Scoonie, Scott moved with his family to Glasgow at a young age and found work with Cowlairs railway works, Cowlairs Railway Works. Initially playing for local sides Towerhill and Northern F.C., Northern, Scott was signed by Cowlairs F.C., Cowlairs in 1882, before moving to Heart of Midlothian F.C., Hearts in 1889. Scottish Football League
The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. After 1998, the SFL represented levels 2 to 4 of the Scottish football league system. In June 2013, the SFL merged with the SPL to form the Scottish Professional Football League.
