George Alexander Rowe (15 June 1874 – 8 January 1950) was a South African cricketer. One of the earliest successful South African Bowler (cricket), bowlers, George Rowe was born in Grahamstown, Cape Colony, on 15 June 1874. Playing for Western Province cricket team (South Africa), Western Province during the early years of the SuperSport Series, Currie Cup, he made his first-class cricket, first class debut against Natal cricket team, Natal in 1893/94 in the final of the competition, and played his last match for the province in 1907. He was a left-arm orthodox spin, slow left-arm orthodox bowler and claimed five wickets in an innings on thirteen occasions, converting five of them into ten-wicket match hauls. He first made his mark on South African cricket team in England in 1894, South Africa's non-first-class tour of England in 1894 where he was the pick of the bowlers in a wet summer, taking 136 wickets at 12.87 apiece. George Rowe (footballer)
George Rowe (born 23 August 1968) is a former Scottish professional footballer who played as a centre-back for Clydebank, Arbroath, Queen of the South and Stirling Albion. Clydebank Rowe started his senior career with Clydebank at the start of the 1989-90 season, having previously played with Kilpatrick Juveniles for a few years. Rowe played in 91 league appearances and scored 10 goals in three seasons at the Kilbowie Park club. Queen of the South Rowe then signed for Queen of the South in Dumfries at the start of the 1992-93 season where he remained for the next 8 years. In his final season at Palmerston Park, Rowe was appointed joint player-manager alongside Ken Eadie and towards the end of that season Hamilton Academical were deducted 15 points for failing to play a match because of a players' strike. George Rowe (actor)
George Dewey Thompson Rowe (September 15, 1894 – February 5, 1975) was an American character actor of the silent film era, known for his cross-eyed look. Born in Maine in 1894, Rowe broke into the film industry in the 1919 short film, ''Tough Luck'', starring Snub Pollard. Over his ten-year career, he appeared in over 125 shorts, many of which for Hal Roach, including several with Stan Laurel and in the iconic Our Gang series. His Roach Studio contract was terminated in 1925, after which he toured the West Coast in vaudeville for a time. Rowe's film career ended with the advent of sound film. In February 1919, Rowe was married to Wanda Lorraine Rowe. Rowe died on February 5, 1975, in Santa Barbara, California, at the age of 80, and was interred at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. His widow died on April 26, 1983, at the age of 90 and was interred at the same cemetery alongside him. George Curtis Fawcett Rowe (24 July 1832 – 29 August 1889), was an English actor, manager and dramatist, whose career began in Australia as George Fawcett; later he was billed as George F. Rowe and worked in Britain and America, where he died. Well known for his portrayal of Wilkins Micawber in his own version of ''David Copperfield'', he was a talented, but "impatient", playwright and actor. Early life Rowe was born in Exeter, Devon, the eldest son of printmaker and watercolor artist George Rowe Sr (1796–1864) and his wife Elizabeth. In 1834 the family moved to Cheltenham, where Rowe was educated.
