George Ridley (Whig Politician)
George Ridley (1818 – 4 November 1887) was a British Liberal and Whig politician. The son of former Newcastle-upon-Tyne Newcastle upon Tyne ( RP: , ), or simply Newcastle, is a city and metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear, England. In the United Kingdom, a member of Parliament (MP) is an individual elected to serve in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Electoral system All 650 members of the UK House of Commons are elected using the first-past-the-post voting system in single member constituencies across the whole of the United Kingdom, where each constituency has its own single representative. South Northumberland (formally the "Southern Division of Northumberland") was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was represented by two Members of Parliament (MPs), elected by the bloc vote system. The area was created by the Great Reform Act of 1832 by the splitting of Northumberland constituency into Northern and Southern divisions.
