George Peel
Major Arthur George Villiers Peel (27 February 1869 – 25 April 1956) was a British Member of Parliament and writer on politics and economics. Career George Peel was the son of Arthur Peel, 1st Viscount Peel, a senior British Liberal politician, and Adelaide Dugdale. On 6 October 1906 at the age of 38 Peel married Lady Agnes Lygon. He entered New College, Oxford University in 1886, and wrote extensively on politics and economics. Peel was returned as MP for Spalding in the by-election of 1917, sitting until the constituency was abolished in 1918, and was Clerk to the Treasury. Peel died aged 88 on 25 April 1956. Major Ernest Albert Belcher (1871 – 1949) was the Assistant general manager of the British Empire Exhibition which was held at Wembley in 1924 and 1925. He was leader of the 1922 tour around the world to promote this event. Agatha Christie and her husband Archie were members of this group and Christie mentions him in her notes and biographies. A 2013 book ''The Grand Tour: Around the World with the Queen of Mystery'' gives an outline of this tour and describes Major Belcher in depth. Arthur Wellesley Peel, 1st Viscount Peel, (3 August 182924 October 1912) was a British Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1865 to 1895. He was Speaker of the House of Commons from 1884 until 1895 when he was raised to the peerage. William Royce (politician)
William Stapleton Royce (13 December 1858 – 23 June 1924) was an English Labour Party politician who served as Member of Parliament for the Holland with Boston constituency from 1918 until 1924. He was born in Spalding, Lincolnshire, and was educated at the Willesby School and at Pretty's Commercial School, Spalding. On leaving school he was apprenticed to a joiner, but served only two years of his apprenticeship before running away to London, where he worked on the construction of the General Post Office building in St Martin's-le-Grand. Three months later, he learned that the Government of Cape Town was offering free passage to South Africa for men to build the railways in that country. He accepted a three-year contract, at the end of which he had saved enough money to set up in business on his own account.
