George Page (alpine Skier)
George Hugh Page (May 17, 1910 –September 2001) was an American alpine skier who competed in the 1936 Winter Olympics. He was born in Cham, Switzerland. In 1936 he finished 13th in the alpine skiing combined event. Page was a grandson of George Ham Page, co-founder of the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, a predecessor company from Nestlé. Cham is a municipality in the canton of Zug in Switzerland. Location Cham is located on the northern shore of Lake Zug, northwest of the cantonal capital of Zug. George Ham Page commonly referred to as General Page (May 16, 1836 - April 20, 1899) was an American industrialist who co-founded the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in 1866, a predecessor of Nestlé. He was primarily active in Switzerland. He was the grandfather and namesake of alpine skier George Page. Early life and education Page was born May 16, 1836, in Palmyra Township in Dixon, Illinois to John Ham and Julia (née Fellows) Page. His parents were both born in New Hampshire and moved into a log cabin in the predominantly native American west of Illinois. His maternal family hailed from Sandwich, New Hampshire while his paternal family was from Rochester. Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company was a Swiss manufacturer of evaporated milk founded in 1866 by American brothers George Ham Page and Charles Page. During the 1870s the company steadily expanded into foreign markets which included the United Kingdom and the German Empire. In 1882, the company expanded into the United States, and built the largest factory worldwide in Dixon, Illinois which was the hometown of the Page brothers.
