George Njaralakatt
Mar George Njaralakatt ( syc, ܡܪܝ ܓܝܘܪܓܝܣ) (born 23 July 1946) is a Syro-Malabar Catholic Archbishop. He retired as the archbishop of Archdiocese of Tellicherry on 15 January 2022 at the age of 75. Early life Bishop Mar George Njaralakatt was born to Varkey (Late) and Mary (Late) Njaralakatt on 23 June 1946 at Kalayanthani in Thodupuzha Taluk in Idukki District. His LP School studies were at St. Josephs School, Arakuzha and he completed UP at St. Marys High School near Muvattupuzha. His family migrated to Malabar in 1960 and settled in Nadavayal, Wayanad, where he completed high school studies at St. Thomas High School, Nadavayal. He achieved a BA degree at Mysore University. Ordination After completing college studies he joined St. Joseph's Minor Seminary Thalasserry in 1963. He was ordained priest on 20 December 1971 at Thalassery by Mar Sebastian Valloppilly. Syro-Malabar Catholic Archeparchy Of Tellicherry
The Syro-Malabar Catholic Archeparchy of Thalassery (anglicised - Tellicherry) is an archeparchy of the Syro-Malabar Church in communion with the See of Rome. The boundaries of the Thalassery ecclesiastical province were extended to include Mangalore, Chickmangalore, Mysore, Shimoga and Ootty as there were settlers in the neighbouring States. The diocese covers an area of 18,000 km² and a Catholic population of 273,826. Since 2022, Joseph Pamplany is the Metropolitan Archbishop. The ecclesiastical province came into existence on 31 December 1953 through the Papal bull ''Ad Christi Ecclesiam Regendam'' issued by Pope Pius XII. Minor Seminary
A minor seminary or high school seminary is a secondary day or boarding school created for the specific purpose of enrolling teenage boys who have expressed interest in becoming Catholic priests. They are generally Catholic institutions, and designed to prepare boys both academically and spiritually for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. They emerged in cultures and societies where literacy was not universal, and the minor seminary was seen as a means to prepare younger boys in literacy for later entry into the major seminary. The minor seminary is no longer very familiar in the developed world. Hinkal is a Census town situated at the intersection of Hunsur Road aka NH275 and Ring Road aka NH 275K in Mysore city outskirts of Karnataka, India. Vicar General
A vicar general (previously, archdeacon) is the principal deputy of the bishop of a diocese for the exercise of administrative authority and possesses the title of local ordinary. As vicar of the bishop, the vicar general exercises the bishop's Ordinary (church officer), ordinary executive (government), executive power over the entire diocese and, thus, is the highest official in a diocese or other particular church after the diocesan bishop or his equivalent in canon law.
