George Muir (field Hockey)
George David Muir (born 24 February 1994) is a New Zealand field hockey player. Personal life George Muir was born and raised on the North Shore, New Zealand. Muir works as a law clerk at Simpson Western in Auckland. Career Domestic competition In the New Zealand National Hockey League, Muir plays for North Harbour. National teams Under-21 Muir appeared in the New Zealand U-21 side on two occasions; at the 2012 Sultan of Johor Cup and the 2013 FIH Junior World Cup. Black Sticks In 2013, Muir made his senior international debut for the Black Sticks during the 2012–13 FIH World League Semi-Finals in Rotterdam. Muir's most prominent appearance with the national team was at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, where the team won a silver medal. The 2012 Sultan of Johor Cup was the second edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup, an annual invitational international men's under-21 field hockey tournament in Malaysia. Men's FIH Pro League
The Men's FIH Pro League is an international men's field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which replaces the Men's FIH Hockey World League. The competition also serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup and the Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, Olympic Games. The first edition started in 2019. Nine teams secured their places for four years. Format Nine men's and women's teams compete in a round-robin tournament with home and away matches, played from October to June, with the top team at the end of the season winning the league. From 2021–22 Men's FIH Pro League, 2021-22 onwards, the bottom team at the end of the season will be relegated and will be replaced by the winner of a new competition called the Men's FIH Nations Cup. 2019 Men's FIH Pro League
The 2019 Men's FIH Pro League was the first season of the Pro League, the premier men's field hockey national team league series. The tournament started in January 2019 and finished in June 2019 in Amstelveen, Netherlands. Australia defeated Belgium 3–2 in the final to win the first FIH Pro League title. The competition also served as a qualifier for the 2020 Summer Olympics with the four best teams qualifying for the FIH Olympic Qualifiers taking place in October and November 2019. Qualification Nine teams competed in a round-robin tournament with home and away matches, played from January to June, with the top four teams advancing to the final at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
