George McConnell (baseball)
George Neely "Slats" McConnell (September 16, 1877 – May 10, 1964) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the New York Highlanders/Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Whales. They had three children, 1 boy and 2 girls, although Elizabeth's age would imply that the first child (born about 1909) may have been from an earlier marriage. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
