George Kinnaird, 9th Lord Kinnaird
George William Fox Kinnaird, 9th Lord Kinnaird, KT, PC (14 April 1807 – 7 January 1878) was a Scottish Whig politician. He served as Master of the Buckhounds under Lord Melbourne from 1839 to 1841. Background Kinnaird was the eldest son of Charles Kinnaird, 8th Lord Kinnaird, by Lady Olivia Laetitia Catherine FitzGerald third daughter of William FitzGerald, 2nd Duke of Leinster. Political career Kinnaird succeeded his father in the lordship of Kinnaird in 1826. This was a Scottish peerage and did not entitle him to an automatic seat in the House of Lords. However, in 1831 he was created Baron Rossie, of Rossie Priory in the County of Perth, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, which gave him a seat in the upper chamber of Parliament. In December 1839 he was appointed Master of the Buckhounds under Lord Melbourne, a post he held until the government fell in 1841. He was sworn of the Privy Council in early 1840. Arthur Kinnaird, 10th Lord Kinnaird
Arthur FitzGerald Kinnaird, 10th Lord Kinnaird (8 July 1814 – 26 April 1887), was a Scottish banker and Liberal politician. Early life and interests Kinnaird was a younger son of Charles Kinnaird, 8th Lord Kinnaird, and Lady Olivia Letitia Catherine, daughter of William FitzGerald, 2nd Duke of Leinster. He rose to become managing partner of Ransom, Bouverie & Co., a banking firm. He continued in this role once he was elected to Parliament. In 1868, he was elected as President of the National Bible Society of Scotland after the resignation of George Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll. He was a keen farmer and, in 1862, installed a Turkish bath for cattle at his Millhill Farm at Inchture, raising the temperature higher than usual, and successfully using it in the treatment of distemper. Lord Kinnaird was a title in the Peerage of Scotland. It was created in 1682 for George Kinnaird. The ninth Lord was created Baron Rossie, of Rossie in the County of Perth, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1831, with normal remainder to the heirs male of his body. In 1860 he was made Baron Kinnaird, of Rossie in the County of Perth, also in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, with special remainder to his younger brother, Arthur. Lord Kinnaird had no surviving male issue and the barony of Rossie became extinct on his death in 1878. He was succeeded in the Scottish lordship and barony of Kinnaird by his younger brother, Arthur, the tenth Lord. The eleventh Lord was a leading footballer and President of The Football Association. Henry David Erskine, 12th Earl of Buchan (July 1783 – 13 September 1857) was the grandson of the 10th Earl of Buchan. He inherited the Earldom upon the death of his uncle, David Erskine, 11th Earl of Buchan who died without issue. On 28 September 1809 he married Elizabeth Cole Shipley (d.1828), daughter of Major-General Sir Charles Shipley. They had one child, David Stuart Erskine, 13th Earl of Buchan (1815–1898). In 1833 he was living at 47 Minto Street in southern Edinburgh. The primary residence of the Earl was Kirkhill House in Broxburn, West Lothian. The Earl inherited the property from his uncle, the 11th Earl. The Earl is buried in a standalone memorial burial chapel (built 1857) to the east of the church of St John Cantius and St Nicholas Catholic Church in Broxburn. John James Hugh Henry Stewart-Murray, 7th Duke of Atholl, KT (6 August 1840 – 20 January 1917), styled Marquess of Tullibardine between 1846 and 1864, was a Scottish peer. Background and education Atholl was the only child of George Murray, 6th Duke of Atholl, and Anne, daughter of Henry Home-Drummond. He was educated at Eton. Career Atholl served in the Scots Fusilier Guards, achieving the rank of captain in 1864. The latter year he also succeeded his father in the dukedom. In 1865 he registered the additional surname of Stewart at the Lyon Court. From 1878 to 1917 he served as Lord-Lieutenant of Perthshire.
