George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is an American politician who served as the 43rd president of the United States from 2001 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, Bush family, and son of the 41st president George H. W. Bush, he previously served as the 46th governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. While in his twenties, Bush flew warplanes in the Texas Air National Guard. After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1975, he worked in the oil industry. In 1978, Bush unsuccessfully ran for the House of Representatives. He later co-owned the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball before he was elected governor of Texas in 1994. George Johnson (footballer, Born 1907)
George Johnson (6 January 1907 – February 1989) was an English footballer who played as a full back in the Football League for Wigan Borough and Darlington. Johnson made his Football League debut on 3 October 1925, as Wigan Borough lost 3–1 away to Southport. He played twice more in the Third Division North, both defeats, before leaving the club and returning to his native north-east of England. He spent time with Walker Celtic before signing for Darlington, for whom he played twice in the Second Division. In the 1927 close season, he signed for Chelsea. He was retained for at least two more seasons, but retired at end of 1929/30 season. but never played first-team football for the club. George Johnson (Independent Labour Party Politician)
George Francis Johnson (1872–1958) was a British socialist politician who devoted much of his life to the Independent Labour Party (ILP). Born in London, Johnson worked various jobs, including a period as an actor. He trained as a scientific instrument maker, then became a schoolteacher in Norwich in about 1900, focusing on teaching practical skills. He joined the National Union of Teachers, soon becoming president of its Norfolk association, and also served as president of the Norwich Class Teachers' Association. Around 1905, he joined the ILP and, through it, the Labour Party; by the mid-1920s, he was president of the Norwich ILP, and secretary of the Norwich Labour Party. Later in the decade, he became the chairman of the ILP's Eastern Division. At the 1922 United Kingdom general election, Johnson stood for the Labour Party in Norwich. George Randall Johnson
George Randall Johnson (7 November 1833 – 24 November 1919) was a member of the New Zealand Legislative Council, and a notable cricket player in his younger days. Life Johnson was the second son of the Reverend Richard Johnson, rector of Lavenham, Suffolk. His older brother was Richard Cubitt Johnson who played cricket for Cambridge in 1850 and died while an undergraduate of typhoid fever in 1851. Johnson attended school in Bury St Edmunds and was admitted to Clare College, Cambridge in 1853, graduating with a B.A. in 1857 and an M.A. in 1861. He studied law at Lincoln's Inn and was called to the bar in 1861. Like his brother, he played cricket for Cambridge University and was captain in 1855. He also played for Cambridge Town Club (''aka'' Cambridgeshire) and for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). At one time he was living in Stalham in Norfolk, and was a Justice of the Peace for Norfolk. George Walker Johnson (9 November 1811 – 22 February 1902) was a contractor, farmer and politician in colonial Victoria, a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Born in Coddington, Nottinghamshire, England, Walker arrived in Adelaide, South Australia in 1839, and the Port Phillip District around 1847. In November 1856, Walker was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Kyneton Boroughs, a position he held until August 1859. Johnson unsuccessfully contested the 1859 election for Kyneton Boroughs. Johnson died at his residence, ''Gainsborough'', in Jennings street, Kyneton, on 22 February 1902.
