George Hirliman
George Hirliman (1901–1952) was a film producer. Biography Hirliman was born September 8, 1901, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. He married Eleanor Hunt, an actress. The couple adopted Georgelle Hirliman in 1936, and later gave birth to daughter Kathy Hirliman in 1942. He started his career at the Life Photo Film Corporation as an office boy and worked his way up to film director at Hirlagraph Motion Pictures, the largest film lab at that time. In 1924, his production company purchased the Solax Studios and renovated the two stages, and studios. The studio building was later destroyed in a fire. When he moved to Hollywood, he worked five years at Consolidated Films working on production and financing. During his tenure there, he made 30 feature films. In 1935, Hirliman produced ''De la Sarten a Fuego / From the Frying Pan into the Fire'', an English and duel Spanish production. ''Busy Bodies'' is a 1933 short comedy film starring Laurel and Hardy. Plot Stan and Ollie are in high spirits as they drive in an old Model T to their new jobs at the sawmill. Laurel turns on the car radio (at the time a luxury item in newer cars, not expected in an old jalopy); the 'radio' is revealed to be a wind-up phonograph stashed under the car hood. Arriving at the sawmill, a slapstick sequence has them repeatedly walking into planks of wood. Starting work, Stan soon traps Ollie's hands in a window frame. After freeing him, they trick a shop worker ( Charlie Hall) into smoking despite a "No Smoking" sign. Plot Stan and Ollie are two sailors on leave who happen upon two attractive girls strolling through a park. The sailors invite the ladies for a soda, but soon realize that they only have enough money for three people. Ollie spends an eternity trying to explain this fact to Stan, who cannot grasp that either he or Ollie will have to forgo a soda. When they finally purchase three sodas, with the plan to share one between Stan and Ollie in which Stan swallows both shares, the price is twice that previously thought.
