George W
George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is an American politician who served as the 43rd president of the United States from 2001 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, Bush family, and son of the 41st president George H. W. Bush, he previously served as the 46th governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. While in his twenties, Bush flew warplanes in the Texas Air National Guard. After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1975, he worked in the oil industry. In 1978, Bush unsuccessfully ran for the House of Representatives. He later co-owned the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball before he was elected governor of Texas in 1994. As governor, Bush successfully sponsored legislation for tort reform, increased education funding, set higher standards for schools, and reformed the criminal justice system. George Hammond (diplomat)
George Hammond (1763–1853) was a British diplomat and one of the first British envoys to the United States from 1791 to 1795. Early career Hammond came from East Riding of Yorkshire, enjoyed a liberal education, and was a Master of Arts and Fellow of Merton College, Oxford. During the peace talks between the 13 colonies of the United States of America and the Kingdom of Great Britain that would culminate in the Treaty of Paris in 1783, he served as a Secretary to David Hartley; while in Paris, he also learned some French. Subsequently, Hammond was appointed chargé d'affaires at Vienna from 1788 to 1790, spent part of 1790 in Copenhagen, and in 1791 found himself Counsellor of Legation at Madrid. Lieutenant General George S. Hammond, USAF (Ret.) is a fictional character in the '' Stargate franchise''. Played by American actor Don S. Davis, General Hammond serves as the commander of Stargate Command (SGC) in the first seven seasons of the 1997 television series ''Stargate SG-1''. He is relieved of command in the series' season 7 finale "Lost City", but becomes head of the new Homeworld Security department at the beginning of season 8. Hammond's off-screen retirement is confirmed in ''SG-1''s season 10, and the character's death is mentioned in the series finale of ''SG-1''s spin-off series ''Stargate Atlantis'', " Enemy at the Gate". George Bruff Hammond (October 21, 1903 – February 18, 1981) was an American race car driver from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 1952, when he was part of the AAA Championship Car. His victory in the 1952 race was commented on by LIFE magazine: "''On Labor Day, he swept to victory in the thrilling and dangerous Pike's Peak Climb, where a slip or a skid could mean death or serious injury, against a field of fast, experienced drivers.''" George Hamond
George Hamond (1620–1705) was an English ejected nonconformist minister. Life Hamond was educated at Exeter College, Oxford, and graduated M.A. He studied also (perhaps previously) at Trinity College Dublin, where he was elected a Scholar and attracted the notice of Archbishop James Ussher. His first known charge was the vicarage of Totnes, Devon, from which William Adams had been dispossessed during the Commonwealth. In 1660 he was admitted to the rectory of St. Peter's and vicarage of Trinity, Dorchester. Hamond was ejected by the Uniformity Act of 1662, his successor being appointed on 30 June 1663. After the Royal Declaration of Indulgence of 1672, a Presbyterian meeting-house was built at Taunton, and Hamond was associated with George Newton as its minister. He also kept a boarding-school, to which several persons of rank sent their sons. The Taunton meeting-house was wrecked after Monmouth's rebellion (1685), and Hamond left London.
