George H. Clay
George H. Clay (February 14, 1911 – October 11, 1995) was president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1961 to 1976. Life and career Clay was born in Kansas City, Kansas, attended Kansas City Junior College, William Jewell College and received a law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law. In 1944 he joined Trans World Airlines in Kansas City as an assistant director of state affairs and rose to become TWA's vice president of administrative services. He played important roles in developing TWA's facilities at John F. Federal Reserve Bank Of Kansas City
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is located in Kansas City, Missouri and covers the 10th District of the Federal Reserve, which includes Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and portions of western Missouri and northern New Mexico. It is second only to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in size of geographic area served. Missouri is the only state with two main Federal Reserve Banks; the other is located in St. Louis. Federal Reserve Notes issued by the bank are identified by "J" on the face of one and two dollar bills and the J10 on the face of other currency. The current president is Esther George. Kansas City International Airport
Kansas City International Airport (originally Mid-Continent International Airport) is a public airport in Kansas City, Missouri located northwest of Downtown Kansas City in Platte County, Missouri., effective December 30, 2021. The airport opened in 1972 and replaced Kansas City Municipal Airport (MKC) with all scheduled passenger airline flights being moved from MKC to MCI. It serves the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and is the primary passenger airport for much of western Missouri and eastern Kansas. The airport covers and has three runways. The airport has always been a civilian airport and has never had an Air National Guard unit assigned to it. Since the shut-down of the 2020 pandemic, the number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures has been steadily recovering. As of October, 2022, there were 303 daily arrivals and departures. Kansas City Overhaul Base
The Kansas City Overhaul Base is a manufacturing and maintenance plant adjacent to Kansas City International Airport. The plant at its peak in the 1960s and 1970s employed more than 6,000 people who worked on repairing the entire fleet of Trans World Airlines (and other airlines under contract) and it was Kansas City's biggest employer. Since TWA's successor American Airlines began downsizing in preparation for a total abandonment effective September 2010, three companies moved their headquarters and plants into the complex (Smith Electric Vehicles (US), Jet Midwest and Nordic Windpower). Frontier Airlines leased two narrow-body hangars. The plant along with the airport opened in 1957 at a cost of $25 million and was marked an attempt to keep TWA in Kansas City following the Great Flood of 1951 which had destroyed TWA's facilities at Fairfax Airport close to the Missouri River. Harold Gavin Leedy (December 6, 1892 – July 28, 1989) was president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1941 to 1961. Leedy was born in Benton, Missouri, U.S. His family moved to Cameron, Missouri when he was a child. He graduated from William Jewell College. He interrupted his studies at what was then called the Kansas City School of Law (now University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law) to join the Army during World War I World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history.
