George Grimes (Queensland Politician)
George Grimes (17 December 1835 – 28 January 1910) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Grimes was born in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, the son of William Grimes and his wife Mary (née Douglas). Electoral District Of Bulimba
Bulimba is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The electorate covers the inner eastern suburbs of Brisbane. It is bounded on the north and the west by the Brisbane River and, as at the 2009 election, covers the suburbs of Bulimba, Balmoral, Cannon Hill, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Murarrie and Seven Hills. The boundaries have changed relatively little since 1923; prior to that, the boundaries extended as far east as Wynnum and as far south-east as Mount Gravatt and Cleveland. The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. As provided under the Constitution of Queensland, the Parliament consists of the Monarch of Australia and the Legislative Assembly. Oxley was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. History This one-member electorate was created in the redistribution of 1872 (taking effect at the 1873 elections) from the electoral district of East Moreton. It covered from Toowong to Enoggera to Goodna, including Yeronga and Kurilpa. In 1888, the part north of the Brisbane River was separated into the electoral district of Toowong, while Oxley extended south to Browns Plains and Woodridge. Oxley was abolished in the redistribution 1949 (taking effect at the 1950 elections) by dividing it into Sherwood, Yeronga and electoral district of Mount Gravatt. The Shire of Stephens was a local government area in the inner southern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The shire, administered from Annerley, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1886 until 1925, when it was amalgamated into the City of Brisbane under the ''City of Brisbane Act 1924''. History On 11 November 1879, the Yeerongpilly Division was created as one of 74 divisions within Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. On 14 October 1886, following a successful petition from ratepayers to create a new division, Stephens Division was severed from subdivision No. 1 of Yeerongpilly Division.
