George Gollan
George Charles Gollan (17 April 1886 – 4 January 1957) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1932 until 1953 . He was variously a member of the United Australia Party (UAP), Democratic Party and Liberal Party. He held numerous ministerial positions between 1937 and 1941 and was the United Australia Party whip between 1935 and 1937. Early life Gollan was born in Woodburn, New South Wales and was the son of a farmer. He was educated at state schools and initially worked as a teacher in rural New South Wales. He resigned from the Education Department in 1912 and later owned various businesses in Sydney including news agencies, butcher shops and leather goods shops. Gollan was an alderman on Auburn Council between 1922 and 1932 and was the Mayor in 1926. Minister For Labour And Industry (New South Wales)
The Minister for Industrial Relations is a Minister of the Crown in the Government of New South Wales who has responsibilities for matters relating to industrial and labour laws and regulation in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The portfolio was established in 1895 in the Reid ministry and titled Minister for Labour and Industry, held in conjunction with the Minister of Public Instruction. The current minister, since 21 December 2021, is Damien Tudehope who is also the Minister for Finance, the Vice-President of the Executive Council, and the Leader of Government Business in the Legislative Council. Alexander Mair
Alexander Mair (25 August 18893 August 1969) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of New South Wales from 5 August 1939 to 16 May 1941. Born in Melbourne, Mair worked in various businesses there before moving to Albury, New South Wales where he went on to be a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for fourteen years. In 1932, Mair was elected to the seat of Albury and was re-elected a further four times. He rose quickly through the cabinet of Bertram Stevens' United Australia Party government, becoming an Assistant Minister in April 1938, Minister for Labour and Industry in June and Colonial Treasurer in October. Alwyn Tonking
Alwyn Uren Tonking (24 August 1893 – 4 May 1965) was an Australian politician. He was born at Dalton to schoolteacher Abednego Tonking and Marian, ''née'' Dunne. He attended Sydney High School and Hawkesbury Agricultural College, from which he received a Diploma of Agriculture, before studying to become a teacher at the Teachers College at Blackfriars. He taught at Bowral from 1915 to 1916, when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force rising through the ranks from Trooper to Lieutenant at the war's end. After the war he taught at Hurlestone Agricultural High School (1919–20) and Orange High School (1920–23) before becoming an orchardist and grazier. In 1925 he married Mary Cannon, with whom he had two daughters. He was founding chairman of the Orange Producers' Rural Co-operative Society from 1930 to 1938. Frank Chaffey
Captain Frank Augustus Chaffey (31 March 1888 – 9 July 1940) was an Australian politician. He was born at Moonbi to farmer William Adolphus Chaffey and Amelia, ''née'' Chad. He was educated at Nemingha and Tamworth before attending Hawkesbury Agricultural College, after which he worked on the family dairy farm. He studied at Sydney Technical College from 1907 and worked as a woolclasser briefly before returning to Tamworth to run the farm. He was active in the local Farmers and Settlers Association. On 1 May 1912 he married Amy Stella McIlveen, with whom he had six children. During World War I he served with the 1st Light Horse Brigade and from 1918 to 1919 was Director of Education of the Australian Infantry Forces. Kevin Morgan (Australian Politician)
Kevin Barry Morgan (22 May 1921 – 6 September 2003) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for a single term between 1953 and 1956. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP). Morgan was born in Wollongong, New South Wales and was the son of federal MP Charles Morgan. He was educated at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview and the Law School of the University of Sydney, from where he graduated in 1949. He worked as a solicitor in a practice established by his father. During World War Two he served with the Second Australian Imperial Force in New Guinea between 1941 and 1944 and reached the rank of sergeant.
