George Fleetwood (MP)
Sir George Fleetwood (1564 – 21 December 1620) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1586 and 1611. Fleetwood was a younger son of Thomas Fleetwood of The Vache, Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, and his second wife, Bridget Spring, daughter of Sir John Spring of Lavenham, Suffolk. He was educated at New Inn and was at Middle Temple in 1580. He inherited the Vache estate in Buckinghamshire from his father. In 1586, he was elected Member of Parliament for Wycombe. He was a J.P. for Buckinghamshire from about 1586 and High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire for 1590–91. He was a gentleman pensioner from 1597 until his death. He was knighted in 1603 and in 1604 elected MP for Tavistock. Fleetwood married Katherine Denny, daughter of Henry Denny, dean of Chester, and his wife Honora Grey, daughter of William Grey, 13th Baron Grey de Wilton and Lady Mary Somerset on 19 April 1586. House Of Commons Of England
The House of Commons of England was the lower house of the Parliament of England (which incorporated Wales) from its development in the 14th century to the union of England and Scotland in 1707, when it was replaced by the House of Commons of Great Britain after the 1707 Act of Union was passed in both the English and Scottish parliaments at the time. In 1801, with the union of Great Britain and Republic of Ireland, Ireland, that house was in turn replaced by the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. Origins The Parliament of England developed from the Magnum Concilium that advised the English monarch in medieval times. James Fleetwood
James Fleetwood (baptised 25 April 1603, Chalfont St Giles; died 17 July 1683, Hartlebury Castle) was an English clergyman and Bishop of Worcester. Life He was descended from the old Lancashire family of Fleetwood and was the seventh son of Sir George Fleetwood of The Vache, Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge. Upon his ordination he was appointed chaplain to Dr Wright Bishop of Lichfield. He became vicar of Prees, Shropshire and a Prebendary of Eccleshall. Fleetwood was a committed Royalist and served as chaplain in the King's Army during the Civil War. In 1642 he was awarded a Doctorate of Divinity by King Charles in recognition of his services at the Battle of Edge Hill, and in the same year was appointed Rector of Sutton Coldfield and chaplain to Charles, Prince of Wales. Alexander Hampden (1546–1618) was an English politician. He was the eldest son of Michael Hampden of Hartwell House, Buckinghamshire. Francis Glanville (MP)
Major General Francis Robert Glanville (1827–1910) was a senior British Army officer. Biography A descendant of Sir John Glanville MP (1542–1600), and Sir John Glanville MP (1586–1661), the Speaker of the House of Commons, and the grandson of Rt. Hon. Reginald Pole-Carew MP (1753–1835), Francis Glanville was born at Hexworthy House in Lawhitton, Cornwall, on 19 March 1827, and educated at Bedford School. He received his first commission in the Royal Artillery as a Second Lieutenant on 19 December 1844, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on 2 April 1846. He was promoted to the rank of colonel on 29 December 1872, and retired from the Royal Artillery as a major-general on 14 July 1877. On Sept 3, 1860, whilst stationed in Gibraltar, Glanville married Dona Maria Concepcion Guadalupe, the daughter of Don Francis Carreras, with whom he had seven sons and five daughters. Francis Goodwin (MP)
Sir Francis Goodwin (1564–10 August 1634) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1586 and 1626. Goodwin was the son of Sir John Goodwin and his second wife Anne Spencer, daughter of Sir William Spencer. In 1586, he was elected Member of Parliament for Buckinghamshire. He was elected MP for Wycombe in 1589. From 1591 he was a J.P. for Buckinghamshire and in 1596 was commissioner for musters. He succeeded to the title of Upper Winchendon in 1597 on the death of his grandfather, and in that year was elected MP for Buckinghamshire again. He was knighted in 1601. Goodwin's election for Buckinghamshire in 1604 in circumstances where he was challenged over outlawry led to a significant constitutional confrontation, "Goodwin's Case", between the House of Commons and James I of England. John Morley (died 1587)
John Morley (died 14 November 1587) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1584 to 1586. Morley was of Saxham, Suffolk. He was an official in the Star Chamber from 7 July 1565. By 1568 he was joint surveyor of customs on cloth and wines. He became engrosser of the great roll and Clerk of the Pipe in July 1579. His offices made him wealthy and he purchased lands at Halnaker, Sussex.
