George F. Donnelly Cup
The George F. Donnelly Cup was an annual amateur soccer competition organized by the United States Adult Soccer Association. It is named after George F. Donnelly, president of the former National Soccer League The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The competition includes a men's tournament and a women's tournament. Each tournament is composed of four "Regional Select" teams (one for each region in the USASA), who have competed as "State Select" teams in regional qualifying tournaments. USASA
The United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) is a national organization for amateur soccer in the United States. It consists of 55 state organizations as well as national, regional and state leagues. The National Premier Soccer League, NISA Nation and United Premier Soccer League are USASA national affiliates designed to promote a higher level of competition than the state organizations. USASA also affiliates the Women's Premier Soccer League, one of the unrecognized third division leagues below the fully professional NWSL. George Donnelly (footballer)
George John Donnelly (born 28 May 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker. He has previously played for Skelmersdale United, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Stockport County, Fleetwood Town, Macclesfield Town and Tranmere Rovers. Donnelly has played internationally for England at non-league level. Club career Early career As a youth player, Donnelly played for Liverpool. He started his career with Runcorn Town and Northern Premier League Division One North club Skelmersdale United, becoming a prolific goalscorer. Plymouth Argyle In March 2009 he joined Championship side Plymouth Argyle. National Soccer League Of New York
The National Soccer League of New York (also known as the National League of New York) was an amateur U.S. soccer league which served as a lower division for the ''de facto'' first division American Soccer League from the 1920s into the 1950s. The league began to decline in the second half of the twentieth century and was displaced by the German American Soccer League (GASL) as the dominant New York amateur league. In 1974, the NSL merged with the GASL. History Much of the early history of the league remains obscure. However, in 1928 an NSL select team played Scottish club Rangers F.C. in Brooklyn.
