George Ela
George Ela (October 11, 1868 – February 13, 1957) was an American lawyer, farmer, and politician. Born in the town of Rochester, Wisconsin, Ela went to the Rochester Academy and then graduated from University of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin Law School. He was a dairy farmer and livestock dealer. Ela served on the elementary school board as a clerk and on the Rochester Town Board. He also served on the Racine County Board of Supervisors and was chairman of the county board. Rochester, Wisconsin
Rochester is a village in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,785 at the 2020 census. The village is located within the former Town of Rochester. On November 4, 2008, the village of Rochester voted to consolidate with the Town of Rochester. History The first non-Native American settlers in Rochester were a group of five farming families, who all hailed from the town of Rochester, Vermont after which they gave their new settlement its name. These were "Yankee" settlers, that is to say they were descended from the English Puritans who settled New England during the colonial era. Correspondingly they were members of the Congregationalist Church and were staunch abolitionists. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election.
