Linlithgowshire was a Scottish county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1708 to 1950. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post voting system. It was replaced in 1950 by an equivalent constituency named West Lothian. George Dundas (colonial Administrator)
George Dundas (12 November 1819 – 18 March 1880) was a Scottish Tory politician and colonial administrator. Born in England, he was the eldest son of James Dundas, and resided in Dundas Castle. Dundas purchased a second lieutenantcy in the Rifle Brigade in 1839, serving in various places such as Bermuda and Nova Scotia. He was promoted first lieutenant without purchase in 1842. In politics, he represented Linlithgowshire in the House of Commons from 1847 until his resignation in 1859. On 8 June 1859, Dundas was appointed Governor of Prince Edward Island, a position he kept until 22 October 1868. In 1875, Dundas was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Saint Vincent in the Caribbean. George Dundas, Lord Manor
George Dundas, Lord Manor (19 November 1802 – 7 October 1869) was a Scottish Senator of the College of Justice. Life He was born on 19 November 1802, the son of James Dundas of Ochtertyre, Stirlingshire, founder of the major Scottish legal firm Dundas & Wilson, and his wife Elizabeth Graham of Portmore. His siblings included David Dundas (1799–1877), Privy Counsellor, Ralph James Dundas (1795–1824) and John Dundas (1803–1873), all lawyers. William Dundas (1796–1842) died at Niagara Falls. Dundas was descended from Dundas of Manour, and adopted the title Lord Manour when raised to a law lord, but quickly changed this to Lord Manor. He resided at Ochtertyre House, coming to Edinburgh solely for his legal work. In 1868 Dundas was placed in the Outer House of the College of Justice with David Mure, Lord Mure and Charles Baillie, Lord Jerviswoode. There have been four baronetcies created for persons with the surname Dundas, one in the Baronetage of Great Britain and three in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. One creation is extant as of 2008. The Dundas Baronetcy, of Kerse in the County of Linlithgow, was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 16 November 1762. The Dundas Baronetcy, of Richmond, London, Richmond in the County of Surrey, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 22 May 1815 for the surgeon Sir David Dundas, 1st Baronet, David Dundas. The Dundas Baronetcy, of Beechwood in the County of Midlothian, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 24 August 1821 for Robert Dundas.
