George Collins (Nova Scotia Politician)
George Collins (January 17, 1771 – May 6, 1813) was a mariner, merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Queens County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1806 to 1813. He was born in East Haddam, Connecticut, the son of Benajah Collins and Susanna Tracey. In 1794, Collins married Lydia, the daughter of Joseph Barss Joseph Barss (21 February 1776 – 3 August 1824) was a sea Captain (nautical), captain of the schooner ''Liverpool Packet'' and was one of the most successful privateers on the North American Atlantic coast during the War of 1812. George Collins (Australian Politician)
George Thomas Collins (10 May 1839 – 25 August 1926) was an Australian politician. He was born in Launceston, the son of William Collins. He was educated at the Launceston Church Grammar School. Collins joined the family of Douglas when his mother married the lawyer Sir Adye Douglas. Collins was articled under Douglas before he joined his law firm in 1861, thereafter known as Douglas and Collins. The firm remains one of the oldest law firms in Australia. In 1895 he was elected to the Tasmanian Legislative Council as the member for Tamar. He served until his retirement in 1919 and died in Launceston in 1926. George Collins (born December 9, 1955) is a former American football offensive tackle who played five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and two seasons in the United States Football League (USFL). Early life and high school Collins was born in Macon, Georgia and attended Warner Robins High School. He was named All-State and an All-American as a senior. College career Collins was a member of the Georgia Bulldogs for four seasons. He began his collegiate career as a tight end, but was moved to the guard position by coaches who recognized his blocking abilities and encouraged him to gain weight.
