George Cochran (baseball)
George Leslie Cochran (February 12, 1889 – May 21, 1960) was a third baseman and shortstop in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Boston Red Sox in the 1918 season. Cochran was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. He was born in Rusk, Texas. Cochran reached the majors in 1918 with the Boston Red Sox after batting leadoff with the Kansas City Blues, the 1918 American Association champion team. Cochran debuted with Boston on July 29, 1918 and played all but one of his 24 major league games at third base. He played his final game on September 2, 1918. In his one-season career, Cochran posted a .117 batting average (7-for-60) with seven runs, three RBI, and three stolen bases without home runs. Cochran died in Harbor City, California at the age of 71. ''George M!'' is a Broadway musical based on the life of George M. Cohan, the biggest Broadway star of his day who was known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway." The book for the musical was written by Michael Stewart, John Pascal, and Francine Pascal. Music and lyrics were by George M. Cohan himself, with revisions for the musical by Cohan's daughter, Mary Cohan. The story covers the period from the late 1880s until 1937 and focuses on Cohan's life and show business career from his early days in vaudeville with his parents and sister to his later success as a Broadway singer, dancer, composer, lyricist, theatre director and producer. The show includes such Cohan hit songs as "Give My Regards To Broadway", "You're a Grand Old Flag", and "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Productions The musical opened on Broadway at the Palace Theatre on April 10, 1968 and closed on April 26, 1969 after 433 performances and 8 previews. George Cochrane (ice Hockey)
John "Goldie" Cochrane (September 27, 1881 – April 15, 1952) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Biography Born in Berlin (today known as Kitchener), Ontario, in 1881, Cochrane began playing hockey as a boy in Berlin in the 1890s. Beginning in 1900, he played for the amateur senior teams in Berlin and Galt. For the 1906–07 season, he moved to Houghton, Michigan, where he played for Houghton-Portage Lakes in the International Professional Hockey League. Cochrane, playing as a rover, participated in 17 games and scored 12 goals for Portage Lakes, helping the team win the league championship that year. Cochrane joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914 and was sent overseas to fight in World War I. He returned to Canada in 1918 after being wounded. George Priaux Cochrane (25 September 1877 – 31 December 1914) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). In the first year of competition, he became one of the club's and leagues first premiership players, during the 1897 VFL season, under the captaincy of George Stuckey. Cochrane made his debut against in one of the finals of the season, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. George Cochrane (politician)
George Augustus Frederick Cochrane (born 26 November 1762) was a Scottish soldier and politician, a member of a large and adventurous aristocratic family. He served in Parliament from 1807 to 7 March 1808, and again from 10 May 1808 to July 1812. Cochrane was the seventh surviving son of Thomas Cochrane, 8th Earl of Dundonald and his second wife Jane Stuart. As a younger son, he sought his fortune in the army; he was an ensign in 1783, a lieutenant in 1787, a captain in 1793, and a major and a lieutenant colonel in 1799. Cochrane resigned in 1805. In 1807 Cochrane and his brother Andrew Cochrane-Johnstone were elected to Parliament from the rotten borough of Grampound with the assistance of their brother Basil's fortune. He was unseated the next year for lack of due property qualification, but re-elected the same year and seated after a disputed election. George Cochrane Hazelton
George Cochrane Hazelton (January 3, 1832September 4, 1922) was an American attorney and politician. He represented Wisconsin in the United States House of Representatives for the 45th, 46th, and 47th U.S. congresses, and was the first appointed attorney general of the District of Columbia. Early life and education Born in Chester, New Hampshire, Hazelton attended the district schools and prepared for college at Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire and Dummer Academy in Massachusetts. Hazelton graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York, in 1858. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in Malone, New York. Career Hazelton then settled at Boscobel, Wisconsin, where he became prosecuting attorney of Grant County, Wisconsin, from 1864 to 1868.
