George Chamberlain (bishop)
George Chamberlain or Chamberlayne (1576–1634) was an Englishman who became the sixth bishop of Ypres. Life Chamberlain was the second son of George Chamberlain and Philippine L'Espinoy, and grandson of Sir Leonard Chamberlain. He was born at Ghent, and grew up in Saint-Omer, where his father, a Catholic exile from England, had settled. He studied at the English College, Rome, and was ordained priest in the Lateran Basilica. He returned to the Low Countries to serve in the household of the papal nuncio, Ottavio Mirto Frangipani, and went on to become canon, archdeacon, and dean of St Bavo's Cathedral, Ghent. After the death of Antoine de Hennin in December 1626, was appointed to the bishopric of Ypres. Around that period members of his English family resided at Shirburn in Oxfordshire. Woodstock (UK Parliament Constituency)
Woodstock, sometimes called New Woodstock, was a parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom named after the town of Woodstock in the county of Oxfordshire. History The Parliamentary Borough comprised the town of Woodstock and (from 1832) the surrounding countryside and villages, and elected two Members of Parliament from its re-enfranchisement in 1553 until 1832. Under the Great Reform Act 1832, the representation of the borough was reduced to one member. Under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, the borough was abolished and was reconstituted as the Mid or Woodstock Division of Oxfordshire when the three-member Parliamentary County of Oxfordshire was divided into the three single-member constituencies of Banbury, Woodstock and Henley. It comprised the middle part of Oxfordshire, including Witney and Bicester as well as the abolished borough. George Henry Chamberlain
George Henry Chamberlain (21 June 1862 – 3 March 1943) was a Republican politician and lawyer from Elyria, Ohio, United States. He was President of the Ohio State Senate during 1904 and 1905. George H. Chamberlain was born June 21, 1862, in Grafton Township, Lorain County, Ohio. He was the son of George B. and Elizabeth (Cragin) Chamberlain. He remained on their farm until seventeen years old, and was educated at the district schools and Oberlin College. He taught school, read law in an office in Elyria, Ohio, and was admitted to the bar in 1887. Chamberlain practiced law in Elyria for two years, and then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was engaged in insurance work until 1895. He returned to Elyria, in 1895, and was engaged in law and Republican politics. In 1896, he spoke in support of the presidential candidacy of William McKinley in Lorain County, and throughout the state. Richard Chamberlain
George Richard Chamberlain (born March 31, 1934) is an American actor and singer, who became a teen idol in the title role of the television show ''Dr. Kildare'' (1961–1966). He subsequently appeared in several TV mini-series, such as ''Shōgun'' (1980) and ''The Thorn Birds'' (1983) and was the first to play Jason Bourne in the 1988 made-for-TV movie '' The Bourne Identity''. Chamberlain has also performed classical stage roles and worked in musical theatre. Early life Chamberlain was born in 1934 in Beverly Hills, California, the second son of Elsa Winnifred (née von Benzon; later Matthews) and Charles Axion Chamberlain, who was a salesman. In 1952, Chamberlain graduated from Beverly Hills High School and later attended Pomona College (class of 1956). Chamberlain was drafted into the United States Army, attaining the rank of sergeant while serving in Korea.
