George Williams Cassidy
George Williams Cassidy (April 25, 1836 – June 24, 1892) was a Democratic Party politician in California and Nevada who served two terms in the United States House of Representatives. Biography Cassidy was born near Paris, Kentucky, on April 25, 1836, and his family moved to Missouri when he was five years old. He attended the local schools, studied with private tutors, and later studied law before deciding against a legal career. Cassidy moved to California in 1857, and mined for gold before deciding on a career as a journalist. Active in politics from early adulthood, he became a member of the California Democratic Party's central committee. He became a reporter and editor, and worked for the ''Meadow Lake Sun'' (Meadow Lake, California), the ''White Pine News'' ( Treasure City, Nevada), and the ''Inland News'' (Hamilton, Nevada). Butch Cassidy
Robert LeRoy Parker (April 13, 1866 – November 7, 1908), better known as Butch Cassidy, was an American train and bank robber and the leader of a gang of criminal outlaws known as the "Wild Bunch" in the Old West. Parker engaged in criminal activity for more than a decade at the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century, but the pressures of being pursued by law enforcement, notably the Pinkerton detective agency, forced him to flee the country. He fled with his accomplice Harry Longabaugh, known as the " Sundance Kid", and Longabaugh's girlfriend Etta Place. The trio traveled first to Argentina and then to Bolivia, where Parker and Longabaugh are believed to have been killed in a shootout with the Bolivian Army in November 1908; the exact circumstances of their fate continue to be disputed. George Cassidy (Australian Footballer)
George Boucher Cassidy (19 August 1905 – 12 January 1985) was a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He attended Caulfield Grammar School, and was recruited by Melbourne from the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club. In 1928, playing for Caulfield Grammarians, he was declared to be the best and fairest player in the Victorian Amateur Football Association's A Grade competition: "as a ruck and half-forward … G. Cassidy, of Old Caulfield Grammarians … has been a mainstay of that team all the season through". Towards the end of the 1928 season he played two games for the Brighton First XVIII in the Victorian Football Association: the first against Port Melbourne in the final home-and-away game for the season on Saturday, 18 August 1928, and the second in the season's second semi-final (Brighton lost to Coburg by three points). George Henry Cassidy (born 17 October 1942) is a retired British Anglican bishop. He served as Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham from 1999 to 2009. Early life and education The son of Joseph Abram Cassidy and Ethel McDonald, Cassidy was educated at Belfast High School and Queen's University, Belfast, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in politics and economics in 1965. He was further educated in University College, London, where he graduated with a Master of Philosophy degree in 1967. He trained for ordained ministry with the Church of England at Oak Hill Theological College, London and was ordained in 1972. Cassidy worked as planning officer in the Ministry of Development of Northern Ireland from 1967 to 1968 and in the Department of Lands and Settlements, Kenya from 1968 to 1970.
