George Boardman (footballer, Born 1904)
George Boardman (born 20 October 1904) was a Scottish professional footballer who played for Partick Thistle, Bradford (Park Avenue) and Nairn County, mainly as an inside forward although he also featured at centre half and centre forward. He played for Partick in the 1930 Scottish Cup Final which they lost to Rangers after a replay, but did manage to claim winner's medals with the ''Jags'' in the Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup in 1927 and the one-off Glasgow Dental Hospital Cup in 1928, both against the same opponents. Dennistoun
Dennistoun is a mostly residential district in Glasgow, Scotland, located north of the River Clyde and in the city's east end, about east of the city centre. Since 2017 it has formed the core of a Dennistoun ward under Glasgow City Council, having previously been a component of the East Centre ward. Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup
The Glasgow Merchants' Charity Cup was a knockout football tournament open to teams from in and around Glasgow and later on in the tournament's history, teams from outwith Glasgow. Invitations were made and sent out by the Glasgow Charity Cup Committee (GCCC) at their discretion, but no criteria were ever published. Like many domestic competitions in Scottish football, it was dominated by the Old Firm of Rangers and Celtic, with 31 and 28 victories each respectively. In the latter years of the tournament, it ceased being a knockout tournament and became a one-off contest between a Glasgow Select and a team invited from the English League. Craig George Boardman (born 30 November 1970) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Career Born in Barnsley, Boardman began his career with Nottingham Forest, making one appearance in the League Cup in September 1991. After a brief spell with Peterborough United, in which he made just one Cup appearance, Boardman signed for non-League side Halifax Town, before returning to the Football League with Scarborough during the 1995–96 season. Active in both Scotland and England between 1960 and 1973, Boardman made over 350 League appearances, scoring nearly 100 goals. Playing career Born in Glasgow, Boardman began his career with Petershill, before playing in the Scottish Football League with Queen's Park, and in the English Football League with Shrewsbury Town and Barnsley.
