George Ballsom
William George Ballsom (1912 – 1983) was a Welsh professional footballer of the 1930s. He made 79 appearances in The Football League during spells with Gillingham and Cardiff City. Career Born on 30 October 1912 in Trealaw, Ballsom joined Gillingham in 1935 from Tunbridge Wells Rangers and went on to make 45 appearances for the club in the English Football League. When the club was voted out of the league in 1938, however, he returned to his native Wales and signed for Cardiff City. Trealaw
Trealaw is a long village, also a community and electoral ward in the Rhondda Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It stretches over from the junction of Cemetery Road and Brithweunydd Road in the east, to the junction of Ynyscynon Road and Partridge Road to the northwest. Arthur Granville
Arthur David Granville (8 May 1911 – 1987) was a Welsh professional footballer. He made 98 appearances in the Football League for Cardiff City and captained the side. Granville was born in Llwynypia. He joined Cardiff City in 1934 from the amateur side Porth United and, after a slow start, managed to establish himself in the side and was later appointed club captain. He scored six league goals during his time at the club, all of which came from the penalty spot. Following the outbreak of World War II he stayed at Ninian Park to help coach the numerous youngsters, whilst serving in the Royal Air Force, and at the end of the war in 1946 he decided not to return to playing football and subsequently retired, instead becoming involved in assessing prospective players and also coaching local amateurs.
