George Armitage (cricketer)
George Brendan Armitage (born March 2, 1942) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He directed the films '' Miami Blues'' (1990) and '' Grosse Pointe Blank'' (1997). He worked frequently with Roger Corman. Life and career Armitage was born in Hartford, Connecticut. His mother was a writer who wanted to get into movies, so they moved to Beverly Hills in 1956, when Armitage was 13. "What a culture shock", he reflected later. "I’m still reeling. In Connecticut there wasn’t a hot rod in sight. Out here it was people racing up and down the street, building their own cars—it was teenage paradise, the kids were running everything."Nick Pinkerton, "Interview with George Armitage"

Film Directors From Connecticut
A film also called a movie, motion picture, moving picture, picture, photoplay or (slang) flick is a work of visual art that simulates experiences and otherwise communicates ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty, or atmosphere through the use of moving images. These images are generally accompanied by sound and, more rarely, other sensory stimulations. The word "cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer to filmmaking and the film industry, and to the art form that is the result of it. Recording and transmission of film The moving images of a film are created by photographing actual scenes with a motion-picture camera, by photographing drawings or miniature models using traditional animation techniques, by means of CGI and computer animation, or by a combination of some or all of these techniques, and other visual effects. Von Richthofen And Brown
''Von Richthofen and Brown'', alternatively titled ''The Red Baron'', is a 1971 war film directed by Roger Corman and starring John Phillip Law and Don Stroud as Manfred von Richthofen and Roy Brown. Although names of real people are used and embedded in basic historic facts, the story by Joyce Hooper Corrington and John William Corrington makes no claim to be historically accurate, and in fact is largely fictional.Corman 1978, p. 224. Plot Manfred von Richthofen is newly assigned to a German air squadron under the command of Oswald Boelcke. Across the lines, Roy Brown arrives at a British squadron under the command of Lanoe Hawker. The two pilots are very different; Richthofen is a gentleman who respects tradition and believes in a gentlemanly approach to war, while Brown is a cynical, cocky, ruthless rebel without a cause who doesn't believe in honor. Boelcke is killed after a mid-air collision with fellow pilot Erwin Böhme and Hawker is killed by Richthofen. Richthofen as ...

Darktown Strutters
''Darktown Strutters'' is a 1975 blaxploitation musical comedy film from New World Pictures. Despite having mixed reviews at the time it has gained cult status over the years with praise from film director Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino called it "a ridiculous satire". Plot A gang of four female bikers, Syreena, Carmen, Miranda, and Theda, pull into a roadside dinner where they get in a fight with 3 US Marines pieing them with the lemon meringue pies they ordered. They win the fight, and proceed to drive off while humming the Marine corps hymn. Later a group of comically militarized cops pull them over and demand to see their driver's licenses. One fat cop is stuck in the police cruiser, however, and Syreena walks over and demands to see ''his'' driver's license. They argue briefly, but then leave, but the cops crash into a group of bank robbers while exiting the parking lot.
