George Andrews (American Football)
George Eldon Andrews, II (born November 28, 1955) is a former American football linebacker. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska who played in the National Football League from 1979–1984 for the Los Angeles Rams. High school Andrews attended Omaha Burke High School in Omaha, Nebraska where he excelled in both football and basketball. College Andrews was a three-year starter for the Nebraska Cornhuskers at defensive end. As a sophomore, in 1976, he had 49 tackles, six for a loss and recovered two fumbles. The team ended the season defeating the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 27-24 in the 1976 Bluebonnet Bowl. As a junior in 1977, George Andrews made 84 tackles with eight for a loss, knocked down three passes, intercepted one pass and recovered one fumble. For his efforts, he was voted honorable mention All-Big Eight. The 1977 season ended with Nebraska beating the University of North Carolina 21-17 in the Liberty Bowl. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Mike Wilcher
Michael D. Wilcher (born March 20, 1960) was a former NFL linebacker. He is a graduate from the University of North Carolina who played pro football from 1983–1991 for the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers. He played his high school football at Eastern High School, a powerhouse in Washington DC. At the University of North Carolina, Wilcher replaced Lawrence Taylor in the Tar Heel lineup, recording 68 tackles his senior season. He had 20 tackles for loss in his final two seasons combined. He was drafted in the second round (36th overall pick) of the 1983 NFL Draft. He was noted for good size (6-3, 240 pounds) and speed (4.73 forty-yard time). The exact name of the list varies by league; it is known as "injured reserve" in the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL), the "injured list" in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the injured list (historically known as the "disabled list") in Major League Baseball (MLB). The National Basketball Association (NBA) does not have a direct analog to an injured reserve list, instead using a more general-purpose "inactive list" that does not require a player to be injured. William Ernest Bain (born August 9, 1952) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL). High school and college careers Bain attended St. Paul High School, where he played for coach Marijon Ancich. Bain played college football at the University of Southern California and was an All-America offensive lineman in 1974. Bain also played at University of Colorado and San Diego City College. Eric Dickerson
Eric Demetric Dickerson (born September 2, 1960) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. Dickerson played college football for the Mustangs of Southern Methodist University and was recognized as an All-American. He was selected in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft and played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. Herbert Jackson Youngblood III (born January 26, 1950) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL) for fourteen seasons during the 1970s and 1980s. He was a five-time consensus All-Pro and a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. John Robinson (American Football Coach)
John Alexander Robinson (born July 25, 1935) is a former American football player and coach best known for his two stints as head coach of the University of Southern California (USC) football team (1976–1982, 1993–1997) and for his tenure as head coach of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams (1983–1991). Robinson's USC teams won four Rose Bowls and captured a share of the national championship in the 1978 season. Johnnie Johnson (born October 8, 1956) is a former American college and professional football player who was a cornerback and safety in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons during the 1980s. Johnson played college football for the University of Texas, and was a two-time unanimous All-America. A first-round choice in the 1980 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. Johnson was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in May 2007.
