George Anderson (footballer, Born 1887)
George Albert Anderson (6 June 1887 – 28 May 1956) was an English professional footballer, best remembered for his 10 years as manager of Dundee between 1944 and 1954. As a player, Anderson played as a goalkeeper and made over 200 Scottish League appearances for Aberdeen. He also played in the Football League for Sunderland. Between his retirement as a player as his appointment as manager of Dundee, Anderson served Aberdeen as a director and manager. Haydon Bridge
Haydon Bridge is a village in Northumberland, England, with a population of about 2000, the civil parish Haydon being measured at 2,184 in the Census 2011. Its most distinctive features are the two bridges crossing the River Tyne, River South Tyne: the picturesque original bridge for which the village was named (now restricted to pedestrian use) and a modern bridge which used to carry the A69 road. Scottish League Cup
The Scottish League Cup (also known as the Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a football competition open to all Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) clubs. First held in 1946–47, it is the oldest national League Cup in existence. The competition had a straight knockout format but became a group and knockout competition from 2016–17. Rangers are the record holders of the cup, winning 27 times. Celtic are the holders, winning their 20th title after beating Hibernian 2–1 at Hampden Park on 19 December 2021. Scottish League Division One
The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. 1945–46 Southern Football League (Scotland)
The 1945–46 Southern Football League was the sixth and last edition of the regional war-time football league tournament in Scotland. With the war itself at an end, the clubs from the North Eastern League joined the setup, although only Aberdeen (who had won four of the eight half-season North Eastern tournaments) participated in the ''A Division''; the rest of the clubs were placed in the ''B Division'' along with some from the Southern region including those who had finished at the foot of the table in its previous season. Rangers were the last winners, thus completing a clean sweep of the seven wartime league seasons including the Emergency League in 1939–40. The Glasgow club had also won the final regular championship in 1938–39, and went on to win the next after official competitions were resumed in the 1946–47 season.
