George Alusik
George Joseph Alusik (February 11, 1935 – April 20, 2018) was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) player who played five seasons with the Detroit Tigers The Detroit Tigers are an American professional baseball team based in Detroit. The Tigers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the American League (AL) Central division. One of the AL's eight charter franchises, the club was f ... (1958, 1961–1962) and Kansas City Athletics (1962–1964). Born in Ashley, Pennsylvania, Alusik stood tall and weighed . Alusik was signed by the Tigers as an amateur free agent in 1953, but did not get substantial playing time until nine years later. He got two at-bats for the Tigers in 1958 and did not play in the big leagues again until 1961. In 1961, he had only 14 at-bats. An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered.
