Georg Dohrn
Georg Dohrn (23 May 1867 – 9 March 1942) was a German conductor and pianist, who worked in Munich and Breslau. Inspired by Johannes Brahms to pursue music, he collaborated with notable musicians and composers of his era. Life and career Born in Bahrendorf near Magdeburg, Dohrn was the son of a ''Gutsverwalter'' (administrator of a large farm). He attended the and the Thomasschule zu Leipzig. He studied first law at the Leipzig University, then at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Humboldt University of Berlin. He was promoted to Dr. jur. in 1891 at the Heidelberg University. During this time, Johannes Brahms inspired him to turn to music professionally. Eduard Erdmann
Eduard Erdmann (5 March 1896 – 21 June 1958) was a Baltic German pianist and composer. Erdmann was born in Wenden (Cēsis) in the Governorate of Livonia. He was the great-nephew of the philosopher Johann Eduard Erdmann. His first musical studies were in Riga, where his teachers were Bror Möllersten and Jean du Chastain (piano) and Harald Creutzburg (harmony and counterpoint). From 1914 he studied piano in Berlin with Conrad Ansorge and composition with Heinz Tiessen. In the 1920s and early 1930s his name was frequently cited among Germany's leading composers. Rudolf Serkin (28 March 1903 – 8 May 1991) was a Bohemian-born Austrian-American pianist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Beethoven interpreters of the 20th century. Wilhelm Backhaus ('Bachaus' on some record labels) (26 March 1884 – 5 July 1969) was a German pianist and pedagogue. He was particularly well known for his interpretations of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin and Brahms. He was also much admired as a chamber musician. Schnabel was known for his intellectual seriousness as a musician, avoiding pure technical bravura. Wilhelm Walter Friedrich Kempff (25 November 1895 – 23 May 1991) was a German pianist and composer. Early life Siegmund was born in Graz, the son of Friedrich von Hausegger (1837-1899), a lawyer and writer on music. Paul Felix Weingartner, Edler von Münzberg (2 June 1863 – 7 May 1942) was an Austrian conductor, composer and pianist. Life and career Weingartner was born in Zara, Dalmatia, Austria-Hungary (now Zadar, Croatia), to Austrian parents. The family moved to Graz in 1868, and his father died later that year. He studied with Wilhelm Mayer (who published his own compositions under the pseudonym of W. A. Rémy and also taught Ferruccio Busoni).
