Georg Baesecke
Georg Paul Baesecke (13 January 1876 – 1 May 1951) was a German philologist who specialized in Germanic studies, particularly the study of Old High German literature. He was Professor and Chair of German philology, German Philology at the University of Halle. Biography George Baesecke was born in Braunschweig, Germany on 13 January 1876. After graduating from the :de:Martino-Katharineum Braunschweig, Martino-Katharineum gymnasium in Braunschweig, Baesecke studies classical philology, German philology and philosophy at the universities of University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin and University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg. He received his PhD in Göttingen in 1899 under the supervision of Gustav Roethe. He received his habilitation at Berlin in 1905. Baesecke was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Berlin in 1911. University Of Königsberg
The University of Königsberg (german: Albertus-Universität Königsberg) was the university of Königsberg in East Prussia. It was founded in 1544 as the world's second Protestant academy (after the University of Marburg) by Duke Albert of Prussia, and was commonly known as the Albertina. Following World War II, the city of Königsberg was transferred to the Soviet Union according to the 1945 Potsdam Agreement, and renamed Kaliningrad in 1946. The Albertina was closed and the remaining non-Lithuanian population either executed or expelled, by the terms of the Potsdam Agreement. Today, the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad claims to maintain the traditions of the Albertina. Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (german: Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg), also referred to as MLU, is a public, research-oriented university in the cities of Halle and Wittenberg and the largest and oldest university in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. MLU offers German and international (English) courses leading to academic degrees such as BA, BSc, MA, MSc, doctoral degrees, and Habilitation. The university was created in 1817 through the merger of the University of Wittenberg (founded in 1502) and the University of Halle (founded in 1694). It is the successor to the ''Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie'' (ADB, Universal German Biography).
