Geokichla Guttata
The spotted ground thrush (''Geokichla guttata'') is a species of bird in the family Turdidae. It is found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, and possibly Mozambique. Description These birds are about 23 cm in length, with brown upper parts and white to off-white lower parts which are darkly spotted. Habitat Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland. It is threatened by habitat loss. Biology and behaviour The spotted ground thrush spends much of its time in leaf-litter on the forest floor where it flicks through the leaves in search of small invertebrates, and despite its distinctive colouration, it is often difficult to see.M. Dlinza Forest
The Dlinza Forest is a subtropical forest or Coastal Scarp Forest in Eshowe, Zululand District Municipality, Zululand, South Africa, one of five natural forests running in a 100 km line running northwest from the coast. Others are the Ongoye Forest, Ongoye, Entumeni Forest, Entumeni, Nkandla Forest, Nkandla and Qudeni Forest, Qudeni Forests. They are the most important forests in southern Africa from the aspect of unique biodiversity. It contains rare birds, chameleons, snails, butterfly, butterflies, moths, frogs and beetles. Dlinza is the home of more than 65 species of birds, including the endangered spotted ground thrush which breeds here, rare Delegorgue's pigeon, magnificent purple-crested turaco and Narina trogon. The name Dlinza is derived from Zulu language, Zulu meaning ''a gravelike place of meditation'' after the peaceful setting.
