Geoffrey Soupe
Geoffrey Soupe (born 22 March 1988) is a French professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Soupe was the 2010 under-23 French national champion for the road race, and finished second to Great Britain's Alex Dowsett in the European under-23 time trial championship. Career Born in Viriat, Ain, Soupe competed for the EC Bourg-en-Bresse, VC Bressan and VC Vaulx-en-Velin setups as a junior, and the C.C. Etupes Le Doubs squad as an amateur, before joining the professional team for the 2011 season as a ''neo-pro''. In his first race for the team, Soupe won the opening stage of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo in Gabon – beating 's Anthony Charteau in a two-man sprint – before finishing the race in eighth place overall. Soupe later added a stage victory in the Tour Alsace, before quitting the race the next day. Cyclingnews.com is a website providing cycling news and race result owned by Future. History In 1995 Australian Bill Mitchell, a keen cyclist and professor of economics at the University of Newcastle, created the website titled "Bill’s Cycling Racing Results and News" after finding there was a need for fast-breaking news and race results in English-speaking countries. In 1999 Sydney-based publishing company Knapp Communications purchased the website from Mitchell, and in July 2007 they sold it to British publisher Future plc for £2.2m. In July 2014 it was bought by Immediate Media Company, along with the print-only ''Procycling'' magazine. In February 2019, Immediate Media sold its cycling titles back to Future. 2010 UCI Road World Championships
The 2010 UCI Road World Championships took place in Geelong and Melbourne, Australia, over 5 days from 29 September to 3 October 2010. It was the 83rd UCI Road World Championships and the first time that Australia had held the event. Coincidentally, the title's defender at the road race was an Australian, Cadel Evans, who has a home in Barwon Heads, only 20 km from Geelong. The time trial and most of the road race elements of the 2010 UCI Road World Championships were staged in Geelong, while the final event, the men's road race, started in Melbourne and went to Geelong, where it finished after 11 laps of the road-race circuit. The events were spread over five days, allowing recovery time for those riders wishing to take part in both the time trial and the road race. The French National Time Trial Championship is a road bicycle race that takes place inside the French National Cycling Championship, and decides the best cyclist in this type of race. The first edition took place in 1995. The first winner of the time trial championship was Thierry Marie. French National Road Race Championships
The French National Road Race Championship is a cycling race where the French cyclists decide who will become the champion for the year to come. The event was established in 1899, a professional championship was established in 1907 and the women's championship was established in 1951. Several additional categories were added later. The record for victories is by one of the best female cyclists, Jeannie Longo, who has so far won 20 road championships. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic cycling jersey which is blue, white and red, just like the national flag, these colours can be worn by the rider at other road racing events in the country to show their status as national champion.
