Gentry Creek
Gentry Creek is located in Kimble County a half mile south of the Menard-Kimble county line. The creek runs southeast through ranchland for to its mouth on the Llano River. It is two miles south of Teacup Mountain and four miles northeast of Junction, Texas. It is named after Raleigh Gentry who moved from Bear Creek to just above the mouth of Gentry Creek in 1862 when the creek flowed year-round. Kimble County, Texas
Kimble County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 4,286. Its county seat is Junction. The county was created in 1858 and organized in 1876. It is named for George C. Kimble, who died at the Battle of the Alamo. History Early years Prior to the arrival of foreign settlers, the area that later became Kimble County was inhabited by several Native American groups, including the Comanche, Kiowa, Kiowa Apache, and Lipan Apache. The first Europeans to encounter the area were the Spanish, who led several campaigns against the local Indian tribes in the mid-18th century. Menard County, Texas
Menard County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,962. The county seat is Menard. The county was created in 1858 and later organized in 1871. It is named for Michel Branamour Menard, the founder of Galveston, Texas. History Around 8000, early Native American inhabitants arrived. Junction, Texas
Junction is a city in and the seat of Kimble County, Texas, United States. Its population was 2,574 at the 2010 census. Geography Junction is located at (30.489772, –99.771335), about northwest of San Antonio and west of Austin in central Kimble County. Interstate 10 runs through the northern and eastern parts of the city, with access from Exits 456 and 457. I-10 leads southeast to Kerrville and beyond to San Antonio, and west to Sonora. U.S. Route 83 follows I-10 past Junction, leading north to Menard and south to Uvalde. U.S. Route 377 passes through the center of Junction as Main Street and 11th Street.
