European Judo Union
The EJU consists of 51 national Judo federations/associations, and is itself recognised by the IJF as one of five continental unions. The organisation of the administration of Judo is based on a pyramid system of regulations, with the IJF the world governing body, the EJU the European governing body, and national Judo associations the governing bodies at domestic level. The first meeting was held on July 26, 1948, in London to form the European Judo Union (EJU). Representatives from Great Britain, Austria, and the Netherlands took part. The meeting was adjourned until the following Wednesday. On July 28 finally, Great Britain put forward the motion: "That the European Judo Union be now formed on the basis of the Constitution as approved, and that all other European countries be circulated with a copy of it and be invited to join." World Judo Championships
The World Judo Championships are the highest level of international judo competition, along with the Olympic judo competition. The championships are held once every year (except the years when the Olympics take place) by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. Team competitions have also been held since 1994. The men's championships began in 1956, though the format and periodicity of the championships have changed over time. Daria Hennadiyivna Bilodid ( uk, Дар'я Геннадіївна Білодід; born 10 October 2000) is a Ukrainian judoka. She is a two-time world champion (2018, 2019), a three-time European champion (2017, 2019, 2024) and won a bronze medal in the women's 48 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Bilodid is also a junior world champion (2018) and a junior European champion (2016).
