Genesis (Matthew Shell And Arun Shenoy Song)
Genesis is an instrumental jazz single released by Matthew Shell and Arun Shenoy on April 25, 2013. It features the Canadian violinist Ian Cameron and guest musicians from around the world. In an interview on Hybrid Jazz by Trish Hennessey, Shenoy talks about The Violin Song (from Shenoy’s album Rumbadoodle) being an inspiration for Shell to reach out to Shenoy, for the song originally written by Shell and based on a funk piano and guitar groove. Arun Shenoy
Arun Shenoy (born 30 April 1978) is a Singaporean musician and songwriter. He is best known for his Grammy Award nomination at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards for his debut full-length studio album ''Rumbadoodle'' released in 2012. "Bliss", the first song from his Indian Fusion project released as a single in 2013 was featured on a worldwide Exclusive First Look on Grammy.com. His second album ''A Stagey Bank Affair'', released in 2016 was chosen as the Critics's Pick for Best Album of the Year by Jazziz Magazine. He was conferred the Outstanding Computing Alumni Award by the School of Computing at NUS in 2018 and is also a Distinguished Alumni of MIT, Manipal. He is the founder of record label, Narked Records. Rumbadoodle
Rumbadoodle is the debut studio album from Arun Shenoy. It was recorded across the world over the period of two years and was released on August 30, 2012. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Instrumental Pop album category in February 2013. The album consists of 11 songs, which are individually named by a wide range of styles that are integrated into every song. Shenoy contributes all the proceeds from the album to an education fund for underprivileged people in India. Composition The album has a flamenco feel with fusion influences drawn from contemporary pop, rock and jazz. While he himself claims to have more of a rock and roll background, he was fascinated by Flamenco from a young age, which drove him to try something unfamiliar. Shenoy has cited Yanni as a major inspiration for the album. Emily Lazar
Emily B. Lazar is an American mastering engineer. She is the founder, president, and chief mastering engineer of The Lodge, an audio mastering facility that has operated in New York City's Greenwich Village since 1997. She won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Beck's album ''Colors'', becoming the first female mastering engineer to win in this category. Early life and education Lazar was born and raised in New York. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Writing and Music from Skidmore College, graduating cum laude with honors distinction in her major.
